Terrible battery life on my G3

I think its possible that the battery can improved in future update, its all about power management on the rom. According to Galaxy Note 4 which the specs are not much different from G3

I'm on 4.4.2 and the T-Mobile "R" update and my battery is amazing. Of course you tube vids and major web browsing will run it down but with 2 hours screen on with phone calls, little bit of browsing, text, and music through Bluetooth I'm at 18hrs with 61% left. I call that pretty good even though not very heavy usage.

This makes sense, and the fact that custom ROMs can improve battery life suggest it's definitely possible via software changes / updates. Of course possible doesn't mean it'll happen lol. On the hardware side The note 4 has a bigger battery I think (3300mah? vs. 3000 for the G3) but it also has a slightly bigger QHD screen at 5.7 inches vs. 5.5. for the g3. With touchwiz being such a heavy OS skin I'm not sure why the battery life should be so consistently better on the note4....assuming it is.

I dont know why everyone are so hyped about 5.0.... I am having it and want to downgrade back to kitkat, I just dont like the lollipop : |||

Well Trusted Bluetooth and cast screen functions are both nice :-) But it really does come down to personal preference.

Isn't OLED more energy efficient than LCD? Something about those black-hole black pixels being off?

Yeap the amoled screen saves tons of battery in favour of the note 4. In a battery test between these two phones the results are as follows:

Note 4- 8 hours and 28 min
LG G3 - 6 hours and 14 minutes.

What kind of test are they? Did you do it yourself or reffering from articel on the internet? What about nexus 6 battery life? I'm want to buy it but still not sure about the battery life

Those tests are useless. Real world usage is way better.

7h, nice, do you get this often ? How you've use the phone that time ?

I usually get over 6 hours and a half of SOT. Mostly reading. Feedly, tapatalk, browsing, Twitter, Facebook and some YouTube. 30 - 38 hours. Wallpaper - 1 black pixel image.

Guess I'll post my SOT to show you that it can compete with the Note 4...

The battery life is going to depend heavily on how you use your phone and how knowledgeable/willing you are with customising and tweaking.

There is a ton of information out there both in this forum and on XDA in regards to this. You just need to educate yourself on it. The average user dealing with an unmodified phone will only take the battery life so far because you are limiting yourself to the manufacturer and carrier's ability. And that is fine, but just understand that your device is capable if you're willing to open yourself to these endless possibilities. It's not for everyone and you have to have the desire to do so.

Sorry for the root-theory ramble, just trying to make a point of information.

My brother in. Law downloaded lollipop. 4 hour battery life. I'm sticking with kit Kat.

Having slated the phone in the past with regards to battery life, i did a simple test last night, fully charged the phone and then let it play a movie on a loop. Not very scientific i know, and i didnt use the phone for anything else, although bluetooth, wifi, gps etc were all switched on.

After 5 hours SOT i still had 24% left and think this would have given me at least another hour of viewing - probably more.

I was quite impressed for a change.

This was on Lollipop 5.0 V20h. Is this supposed to have made any difference to battery life?

That is impressive kinda. I'm guessing your running international version? You would be surprised how much better the international software is vs a carrier bloated lollipop release.

I think you are correct. I purchased it from Ebuyer in the UK and it was factory unlocked with nothing tying it to any carrier.

One day i will figure out how to root it and get all the LG bloatware off of it!
