terrible bugs in my Gnex

hopefully they start pushing 4.1 ota soon so we can get some feedback on some possible fixes.

Where are our other GN users? I'd love to hear from more than one source on these issues. This isn't the first time Samsung built a CDMA phone.

This.

At least one other guy got the phone. (the one BB called to get him to return it)

Is he having the same issues I wonder. if not, the chances of you having a dud are higher. With only a handful in the wild, the chances are very low that one would be a dud, but the chance is still there. Sometimes you do just get dealt a straight flush, or in your case, a pair of 2s.

So far the only thing i experienced was random muting on a call but this could be an issue with it being close to my ear then away an inch (triggering the screen on) and hitting mute but im not sure. My other issue is randomly with a google talk video chat i can't hear any sound and i test from a few devices and tablets so its def. the Nexus fault.

So far I have not experienced any signal issues, the experience has been the same as the TB, Charge, Razr, Rezound, Bionic, etc. Pretty strong once in a while a random switch to 3G from 4G. I am in a strong 4G area (NYC) until i use the subway but regaining signal so far as been decent. I will pay much more attention now in the next few days and report back.

Back when I started following this forum closely back in June I was happy with getting a 3G Galaxy S II because I didn't feel like Verizon's LTE radios were good enough. Then Verizon skips on the GS2 because they're pushing 4G phones.

I understand why Verizon wants to sell 4G phones. First of all they're charging $100 more for the phones. Second, they have (at least in perception) an edge over their competition in the size of their LTE network. I just want a phone that works. The GS2 is the best Android phone out there and Verizon customers aren't allowed to purchase it. Instead we're being forced bug riddled 4G phones.

I think you guys are missing the OP's point. It seems clear to me that that he's simply pointing out what a lot of people couldn't/wouldn't believe: The phone isn't ready for release. I don't see where he blames anyone.
I understand his point. My point was that the 4.1 update was ready before 12/9. That would tell me it was ready for release "officially". Had it been released on 12/9, the update would have pushed out immediately. A pre-release phone with no support would not be ready for release.

read into it what you want

4.0.2 better fix a few major bugs and I hope its almost finish because this is definitely in my opinion the reason for delays. Trust me until they fix this you don't want the phone. Not being able to enjoy what it can do is more frustrating than not having it...trust me.

Now I don't root and all that so take it for what you will...but if you can fix signal outages for over an hour...not being able to switch to 3g only....not having service to place calls when you are showing three bars....and oh yea having no sound emit from your speakers....then by all means keep being frustrated. As for the rest of us just wait until that damn update is ready.

..then again i could just have a total lemon pos unit and got incredibly lucky yet even that much more unlucky.

Its probably the "software" thing they keep telling me. I'm facing some issues though they arnt as bad as yours. My 4G bars are drastically less than they were on my razr

I would love to buy a 3g GS2 on Verizon. I'd be happy as peach.

Have we already forgotten about this thread? http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus/139536-vzw-employee-view-delay.html

Like I've been saying - Wallet has nothing to do with this. It's all firmware issues revolving around getting the CDMA+LTE radio to work. Just like with almost every other VZW LTE phone released this year.

This.

Unfortunately cdma and LTE don't play well together yet. I've tried the Tbolt, charge, and razr and it seems to be an issue with every one. When you get in a weak 4g area its almost like the data just "sticks" instead of properly handing off from LTE to CDMA and back.

I've had a brief experience with the GS2 skyrocket here in Dallas where AT&T's LTE network is fairly robust and have not noticed near the connectivity issues I've noticed with Verizon LTE. However verizon has far more LTE coverage and a better overall coverage map in general. I really hope they get the LTE issues resolved as switching is not an option for me due to coverage and not wanting to lose my unlimited data. If they wait to release the Nexus until LTE issues are alleviated though it may never see the light of day.

I don't think the radios are a problem at all.

This, however, makes me wonder. Anytime the gubmint gets involved with anything there's always problems... lol

Funny how that post speaks of the message only going to 'droid operated phones', while the picture is the screenshot of an iphone. #Epicfail *faceplam*

Yeah, and it's infowars, too. Guess good editors are hard to find just about everywhere nowadays...

FWIW, Phandroid has now been throwing out Dec 20th as a release date.

They also said preorders were going live last night at midnight. Plus 1 guy is saying the 16th because some manager told him, yet others are still holding onto the 15th and have appts with verizon on the 15th.

I don't care how f-ing buggy it is! Fetch hither le Nexus de la Belle Google!

I'm still on a DingleBerry Bold. Any half-operational android would be a massive improvement.

I hate every one of these posts. People litterally asking for a buggy phone. its so dumb in so many ways.
Besides the fact that A. I dont trust you not to complain. B. Noone trusts you not to complain. and most Importantly C. Verizon doesnt trust you not to complain... even somehow you didnt complain, didnt provide bad word of mouth, didnt tie up their CS, etc etc... even if all this happened which it wouldnt.. what about the other 100K+ buyers? is Verizon suppose to deal with them being happy because you goofily decided you wanted the phone launched with bugs?

Can we get a script or something on this forum that autodeletes/bans any user that says they want the phone now and dont care how buggy it is?

The word I got for the delay was that the GNex crashed the network last week (the massive data outage). They said similar events occurred just before the launch of the Charge and Stratosphere. Maybe it is a software issue?

How can a phone that's not even out yet crash an entire network?????

If you had bought a Thunderbolt at launch you wouldn't even think about saying that. Although it's half decent now, it was buggy as hell at first and nearly unusable.

U, d900d, this is a developer phone. Not a mass-market phone. VZW has done ZERO to promote it. All of the forum members will get it on launch day, and after that it will simmer down. The Sheeple will have a hard time deciding on a bloat-ridden Tazer with NFL mobile pre-loaded or a GNex. Why do you think that the VZW twitter account constantly pimps NFL apps and has said zero about the GNex? Nobody cares about this phone except for you and me and the rest of the forum community.

You think ICS means jack to people running Windows ME at home? If anyone asks about ICS on the Tazer, VZW salespeople will just say that "ICS will be on the Tazer in a few weeks." That should be enough to assuage any fears among the 5 people who ask that.

The GNex can be in beta when it is released. The devs wont mind. Bootloader is unlocked for a reason.

That was a mass-market phone and they took WAY too long to fix the bugs. I'm not saying that VZW should release a beta phone and then walk away they way VZW and HTC did with the Tbolt. They should diligently work to iron out remaining bugs and send nightly builds.
