The Coronavirus Maze-How are we navigating it today?

My thoughts on this and I will try to summarize and get to the point,

A now famous quote still has a lot of meaning that as it did at the time it was made by Franklin D. Roosevelt
We have nothing to fear but fear itself
I hope you get the meaning as intended on the quote, it relates more of going into a " panic mode"

First Coronavirus is real affects older and people with health issues worse. But no one is entirely immuned.

Bar soap is just as good or better then hand sanitizers, any brand of soap will do. Make sure you wash you finger tips as well as your entire hand and rinse off the soap water temp. does not matter.

Don't panic buy but buy what you need. The problem isn't the food supply but a bottleneck at the dist. centers. Also some places don't allow overnight deliveries and they are working on ways to correct this. Also don't touch your face in the store , wash your hands once you get back home.

Expect more reports of people getting sick, that's 100% sure thing. What they are trying to do by limiting large groups and closing schools is to flatten out the curve so it does not overwhelm the health care system, thus a gradually rise and not as much of a spike in the reports of people getting sick.

Worrying does nothing but stress you out, its not going to make it go away. We can get though this fine if most people keep level heads and use common sense.

That's what I go by and even remind myself of at times.

My main worries, besides elderly getting sick, is the possibility of marshal law and banning interstate commerce. Oh any yeah, it isn't exactly easy to not touch my eyes in a store given my eye itching issues .

I use whatsapp and have been obsessively texting my mom, don't worry about that. Just I cannot be physically with them.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear (well, read) that. My mom is in the risk factor category and so is my brother (otherwise they are healthy), so I've been keeping some space from them for a few days just in case - especially if I was out doing errands. I've been calling them a lot! Hopefully I can go see them on Thursday.

This Corona virus will make the already bad whatsapp/keyboard burn-in on my phone even worse more quickly

I live in Michigan here is what is going on with our situation. What Michigan is Doing. This is directly from the Michigan.gov website.

March 15 Press Conference - Gov. Gretchen Whitmer provides update on COVID-19

On Feb. 3, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) activated the Community Health Emergency Coordination Center, and it has been working diligently with local health departments, health systems and medical providers to make sure appropriate screening and preparations for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are being made.

On Feb. 28, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer activated the State Emergency Operations Center to maximize coordination with state, local and federal agencies, as well as private partners, and to help prevent the spread of the disease. The administration continues to work with schools, businesses, medical providers and local health departments to make sure they have the information and resources they need to collaboratively address this health crisis. MDHHS also launched a campaign to raise awareness of appropriate hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.

As part of Michigan’s efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19, Governor Whitmer created four task forces on Tuesday, March 3:

  • The COVID-19 Task Force on State Operations, covering all aspects of state operations, including employment and facilities.
The COVID-19 Task Force on Health and Human Services, covering the provision of medical and human services, including protecting the healthcare workforce.
The COVID-19 Task Force on Education, covering K-12 public schools and universities and colleges.
The COVID-19 Task Force on Economy/Workforce, covering general economic impact, workforce, supply chain, business continuity, and related issues.
Since then, task forces have been meeting to go over response plans and determine potential resource needs to respond to COVID-19. On Tuesday, March 10, Governor Whitmer declared a state of emergency as Michigan’s first positive cases of COVID-19 were identified. The emergency declaration now enables the state to quickly deploy state resources (equipment, supplies and/or personnel) to local jurisdictions that request resources to support their response efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19. The declaration places Michigan at a heightened state or preparedness for response. It does not change the authority of law enforcement or implement restrictions on residents. However, all Michiganders are encouraged to follow the recommendations from MDHHS and the CDC to protect themselves and slow the spread of COVID-19.

MDHHS continues to participate in national calls to stay up to date on the national investigation and response, and is implementing all CDC disease prevention guidance. MDHHS will continue to update statewide healthcare providers with this information as it is received.

The best prevention for respiratory illnesses, in general, are to practice good hand hygiene (wash hands often with soap and water), stay home when ill and to get recommended vaccinations.

Update: As of March 18th, Serbia is implementing MARSHAL LAW. "Movement" (whatever that means) will be BANNED from 20:00-05:00 each night for normal people, and those 65+ are banned ALL DAY LONG. Good thing I am not back there. I'm not gonna comment on this aside from the fact that it basically destroys constitutional rights. Hopefully it doesn't get this extreme in the US.

Well me and my family kept our vacation plans and drove from Virginia USA to Toronto Ontario, Canada. We spent time in Toronto and Niagara falls and had a great time. We frequently washed our hands, used sanitizer after we touched doors or items in stores etc..

The places we visited were not heavily populated as many ppl are staying home. Workers and patrons at the hotel, restaurants and stores we visited all seemed aware and took extra precaution with person to person contact by maintaining a few feet distance, wearing gloves, avoiding touching hand's, offering hand sanitizer etc... Now that we're back home we will take the next week or 2 and stay away from friends and family just in case we despite our efforts came into contact with the virus

Marshall?

Martial?

Marshall?

Martial?

Probably just another of his hyperboles. Yesterday Serbia implemented some of the measures already in place in many countries all around the world, including some counties in the US. Night curfew and movement restrictions for the elderly.

Many European countries declared an estate of emergency/alarm and restricted movement for all their citizens in order to slow the pandemic and make it more manageable. Unfortunately these radical and painful measures are necessary for many reasons already explained in this thread.

I guess he still thinks these international efforts to contain the pandemic are some kind of planetary conspiracy.
