This seems overly complicated. You think sholes will impliment this in their next rom? If i have their 1.1 rom installed will flashing this mess anything up?
overclocking is cool but to me its more of an ego thingNone of hte apps I'm using are slow, they are all pretty darn snappy. Maybe If i was using apps that were more cpu intesnive where i'd see big gains it could be worth it. I'm overclocking slightly at 600 but for now will stay here as I dont want to lose battery life from going any higher really.
If you have any other issues shoot me a pmIs there anyone kind enough to walk me through how to do this? I've read tutorials from 3-4 different sites and they all lack very important information.
Example:
Step 1: You?ll need to first root your Motorola Droid. Follow the step by step guide posted here to root your Droid phone if you haven?t already.
Go to sholes.info important files or something like that and you will see the original root update download it. Put it on the root of your sdcard, powere the phone off the power it on while holding x. When it show a exclamation mark press the camera and volume rocker at the same time. From their flash the updsate zip. You have root
Step 2: Make sure that you have flash_image on your system, in /system/xbin/ or /system/bin.
Download droid root helper from AllDroid - View topic - App to install busybox,flash_image v7 (updated 12/23) and the tools folder. Put the tools folder in the root of your sdcard whith the droidroothelper.apk inside. Install droid root helper and follow the instructions.
Side note to get the latest sholes info recovery download 99.2b and put it in your tools folder rename it to 99.1b and flash it with droid root helper
How do I make sure I have this file on my system?
In the droid root helper just click on reboogt recovery it should show the latest
Step 3: Enable USB debugging on the phone.
Settings applications development you should see debugging their
Once again, how?
Step 4: Download evilboot8.img to overclock Droid to 800Mhz, evilboot9.img for 900Mhz and evilboot1g.img for 1Ghz from the source link here.
Easiest way is to download the nandroid backup and advanced restore just the boot of that file while in the recovery menu.
Side note insure you have it in your nandroid folder
Step 5: Now reboot into sprecovery mode and select mount options as follows.
mount /system
moust /sdcard
How?
Its in the recovery menu once you install that you will see ot
Step 5: Now run the following adb command from your PC.
adb shell /system/xbin/flash_image boot /sdcard/evilboot8.img
(where xbin is xbin or bin depending on location of flash_image file on phone)
How?
See 4 sorry put it in the wrong spot
Step 6: Now unmount in the following order.
unmount /system
unmount /sdcard
How?
See above
Step 7: Reboot your phone.
I'm not sure how anyone who hasn't done this before is able to do this with these vague instructions. Maybe I'm just slow?
Flash the 2.1luancher at 600 then flash the 800 or 900 and tell me it doesn't make a difference
I don't know for me it makes a huge difference my phone scrolls smother opens apps fasteri dont run the 2.1 launcher, i prefer the stock one right now. I never said it doesn't make a difference, just doesnt make a difference in things I use.
as i said i will probably try them out eventually. When it comes to something like this I prefer not to be the first to jump on board. And I love speed and I'm sure there's a difference. My setup is blazing fast right now so thats why i'm content. I'll just give it a few weeks and wait for you guys to test out the ropes![]()
Hey no problem at all I still don't know how MT processor is going to hold up to 1ghz. So if you onto trust it at this point don't do it becouse their I'd the possibility that MT phone can become a expensive paperweight.
This can't be good for the lifetime of the CPU......
I think you need a recovery console that will allow you to mount and unmount the system and sdcardi dont run the 2.1 launcher, i prefer the stock one right now. I never said it doesn't make a difference, just doesnt make a difference in things I use.
