The DVD to DROID Converter is now available.

I think the ridiculously slow download was the fault of my ancient PC. Anyhow, the sound was a little bit behind. Just enough to be annoying. I deleted the movie off of my droid and will keep it on the PC. I'll revisit this app in a little while and see if it improves.

The audio sync may be a product of good copy protection, or the length of time it took to convert. If the computer is not powerful enough, then it's possible that it was unable to do the proper syncs when it was converting.

Also, I found that some of the Sony DVD's - especially the new ones cause the PC to work harder making it easier for the audio to get out of sync.

Thanks for trying.

Just in case it wasn't mentioned enough here --- a humongous THANK YOU to the developer for making this available. I know that must have a LOT of hard work to make this. Thanks again.

Yes it is awesome, but how much memory will this eat up... Not to mention it would kill the battery so fast.. I would like to see a video about this. I would think adding movies to your droid would slow it down, as well as how good would the sound and audio quality be.

wish this worked on my macbook pro.... as you can see from my video thread I cant get anything video related to work.... glad someone is making a droid specific DVD rip program though

Try iSkysoft Media Converter. It can convert many video types to multiple other video types. The 3gp worked on my Hero, but with poor quality, I'm sure there is a better video format better suited for the phones.

Actually, putting movies on your DROID doesn't slow it down at all, unless you are watching the movie of course. The video and sound quality are quite good because of DROID's great screen. A standard movie takes about 600 meg, so you can put quite a few on your 16gig SD card before you fill it up.

I like the program but it takes alot longer than any other converter I have used. Other than that pretty good.

This seems pretty sweet... and I don't even have my Droid yet!

My question is this: How well does it deal with episodes? I would love to have my Samurai Jack collection available on the go.

I guess it depends on how the DVD is formatted. If it has a continuous play option, then it should convert all episodes on the DVD to one file. All I can really say is try it out, you can download and convert some DVD's before you have your Droid, they will just store on the hard drive until you get it!

forgive me for being unaware, This is my first "smartphone" and I have had it since the rollout weekend. I have recorded onto to my phone how do I access the movie to watch on my phone. I can mount it to my computer and watch it, but cant figure out how to watch it on the phone. Sorry for my ignorance...:)

I like to use OI File Manager from the android market. I use that to navigate to the movies directory and choose a movie cause I can't tell what movie is what with the gallery view.
