The Jelly Bean OTA update is complete.

Re: Get the official Jelly Bean OTA update? Post it up.

Honestly, I'm not too terribly worried and surprised. I recently switched from the Photon 4G, and I remember the last update, which was an incremental to 2.3.5, was posted on the Sprint support page several days before anyone other than SOAK testers got the update. It was on the Motorola site even longer than that before it was OTA available. Patience is a virtue.:)

I caused this by losing patience and rooting last week. You're welcome. :-)

Sprint likes to do it late at night or wee hours of the morning so their servers don't get hit to hard.

Most of the updates on my NS4G (retired) didn't hit folks until 12 MN EST = 9 PM CST. Just saying. Plus in my area (Manassas, VA) 3G signal is sucking wind all of a sudden and draining my S3's battery like a syringe drawing blood!!

Man is correct. And for God sakes can we stop with all the whining? Its formally announced, its being released. Give it time. I've never seen any release on any carrier reach thousands of people on day one when it was only announced this time yesterday. Just relax.

Re: Get the official Jelly Bean OTA update? Post it up.

Just gonna put this here too from the Sprint GNex threads:

It's been confirmed on the Sprint GNex's device support page that it will receive the update starting today. A Sprint employee also confirmed on the NS4G forums that it will ALSO receive the update starting today.

GNex (LTE): Find and update the software version on your Galaxy Nexus

NS4G: Sprint Community: Jelly Bean Update?

Just because you don't have the update does not mean no one has it. Most people don't go posting on forums that OMG I HAS THE UPDATE Most people with this phone just have it because it was cheap or free and probably don't care about Gingerbread, ICS, or even JB. They just want a device to make calls, texts, and look at Facebook/Twitter on.

This means that every single person here (myself included) are in the minority as we actually care about what updates the phone gets and when. Some of us even root the phone and update the OS ourselves.

What am I getting at with this post? Most people aren't going to post that they have the update as they simply don't care / know this place exists.

If you want to equate this to gamers, we're the "hardcore" gamers who want graphics and story and blah blah blah, everyone else (read: pretty much everyone not on these forums, XDA, Android Police, etc) are the "casual" gamers who only care about simple games to play and beat, not about special graphics or features.

I'm going to go back to work now and wait patiently for the update. I probably won't get it until next Thursday anyway as it took Omaha, NE that long to get ICS previously.

While I agree with you in principle, I would LOVE to know by who's definition $200 on top of a 2 year contract is defined as "cheap or free." Remember, the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S are both flagship phones (albeit in different generations).

Not whining here, just wondering why nobody has posted that they have the update. Not a single confirmation that the update actually exists. Every time the subject gets brought up anywhere people point to the Sprint page saying the update is coming. We knew that back when we bought the phones.

An actual confirmed siting of the OTA update from someone would simply be nice at this late point in the day.

Re: Get the official Jelly Bean OTA update? Post it up.

Patience. I don't think everyone who owns a Sprint GNexus comes to Android Central just to post about it... Just saying.

Speaking from experience with my E4GT, sometimes it is better NOT to jump the gun and wait for it to come to you.

They pulled the ICS update after I got the update.zip, and the ICS build borked my phone.

I thank Sprint for this though, it gave me a case to get a GNexus.:)

Wow nobody got the update yet? Oh well, I'm just happy we are getting it soon.

Most people don't look at the entire contract, they just see "Ooh! I can get a free phone!" and don't even think about the bills (maybe because they are on a family plan and it's cheap or someone is paying for them).

They may be flagship phones, but I guarantee you most don't even know that. They only know what the sales rep pushes on them or what they see on TV. Nexus devices don't really sell that well (as Samsung confirmed during their first bout with Apple) outside of places like this so there's no point in really pushing it to any customers or telling them anything about it when you can push a Galaxy S III or One X and get more commission.

Well I did my research and the ns4g was the best for me at the time and still is until lte comes to Chicago then either the sgs3 gn or new nexus

Re: Get the official Jelly Bean OTA update? Post it up.

Well which one do I do? Fastboot, Wug, or Odin?

Odin is completely unnecessary on a Nexus. Use fastboot if their images or to flash a recovery.

To unlock:

fastboot oem unlock

I don't necessarily want to unlock just yet, so does using this tar file require one to unlock? I thought the thread shows one how to return to stock, especially if you brick your phone.
