Got into Sprint today, they will replace, without needing TEP, any phone purchased from them prior to 9/21. I'm guessing they pulled from stock any 505-507 as of that date. Hoping mine will be in by Thursday, but the guy said stock goes up and down on these devices, so it could be longer.Scary stuff, especially when it was working fine not too long ago.
A small loan of a broken G4

Guess I'll try to find my old flip phone and activate it tonight.
Cool move from Sprint I guess, although they should go with brand new phones for all the hassle this has caused.
Joined the club on Friday night. Spoke to a T-Mobile chat agent on Saturday who told me I could get a replacement in-store. Walked in, and this wasn't the case. They wanted to charge me $20 for a refurb. I called in and without making a stink I simply told the phone rep what the online rep told me and he lowered it down to $5, and also upgraded my shipping to expedited overnight.
I have my phone now and it looks new, but the serial number starts with 602. It's been a few days since I've read all of this thread, but I haven't seen this number before. The date above is 02/2016. That's what 602 stands for right? 6 (2016) 02 (February). This certainly implies that this is a new and current batch device (without Marshmellow oddly,) so I'm hoping that the kinks are worked out with this batch.
Strange. My replacement S/N starts with 512 which I'm sure is fine but I don't see anything related to a date anywhere on the sticker?
Finally got the G4 back.
They replaced the motherboard but didn't replace the entire phone. Whatever, it's working.
Now for the hard part: convince myself to go through the nightmare that is selling the phone because otherwise I have absolutely zero use for it now.
Try it on Swappa.com or an EU alternative?
See if you can get back even a quarter of what you paid for the S7.
I think I know what to expect. In the meantime...I think I'm going to take the chance to make some camera tests against the S7. Who knows...maybe the G4 will even be lucky enough to save itself from the axe![]()
Love the tag. Couldn't agree more.
Yeah, I miss it.
I'm actually sending those from my old One M7, which I flashed the GPe ROM on not too long ago.
R.I.P GPe program
I actually wish LG took the Sony route and release an optional stock Android-based ROM that's similar to a GPe ROM for those who want that Nexus-like experience but want the features of the G4.Nice. I never had a GPE device, but thinking about it makes me miss my Nexus 5. I recently went back to Google Now Launcher on my G4 and loving it. I was on Action Launcher 3, which is similar to stock. I missed the straight up stock experience though.
