The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

Verizon here with a March security patch. I never bother worrying about them since Verizon rarely sends any separate from the OS updates, but looks like they are the most up to date so far. That's surprising.

Yeah, that's really weird.

Mine's an unlocked unit as well. I wonder why there's nothing new for it...

I can't get it replaced, because they didn't have the EUR model in stock and they allow only one warranty replacement unless exceptions can be made.

I also saw a stack of phones that were going to be sent off for repairs. Nearly all of them were LG G4s.
Just thought I'd quote one of my older posts because I realized something.

While discussing with the rep back then, he told me that they sold off a refurbished European G4 a month ago, with the region code "ROM". Guess what phone that was....

Yep. It was my original unit of the G4.

Sold???

not sure if you guys are keeping track of this, but my 505 G4 just went to the great Charger in the sky. I got it on July 6th From Best Buy in Wyomissing PA. I was working and went to update my log book (Truck Driver) on my phone and the screen was black and it would not wake up or reboot. I put it on a charger and still got nothing. The funny thing is, and thank god i had the Geek Squad Protection Plan, but Best Buy claims they have no record of ANYTHING wrong with ANY of the G4s. I tried to get them to look at the Internet blogs about the issues and they where unwilling. I am waiting on a Refurb from them. BTW it is a Sprint Variant.

I call BS on their part.

It's becoming more and more prevalent each passing day. Even some carrier stores are aware of it.

First off, I never post on these things but I am so impressed by this community and everyone sharing their experiences, so I thought I would take the few minutes to share mine as well. Too bad I'm in the same boat and I'm not sharing a good experience.

Had the G4 pretty much from the beginning. Rooted, ran perfect, literally never an issue.... no glitches, ran it as "vanilla" as I could, this thing was my favorite phone (even though I loved my original Galaxy Nexus back in the day). My G4 never even ran hotter than some of all the recent counterparts on the market.

One day, while on the phone, I was opening Facebook and BAM, bootloop. But I am used to bootloops from always tinkering with other phones... this wasn't your average joe of bootloops.

As you guys can imagine, looked at my serial which was 505 and you guys know the issue. I almost feel some relief since I am not the only one.. but unlike some few lucky people, freezer trick didn't work, nothing could be done, and any backup I have ever actually done wasn't enough to get my CRITICAL data that I needed back. My SD card did me no justice that day, and of course there was no way to get my stuff back.

Long story longer...
I got my LG replaced (stupid Tmobile charged me like $7).. the second I received it, they gave me another 505. I didn't turn it on, I put it in the box, and now am going to just use my Tmobile "Jump" whenever the hell I please. I resorted to using my backup phone, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (this is when Edge sucked even more) but at least it has been good to me as my daily driver. I just acquired the S7 Edge, phenomenal phone I must say, but LONG LIVE THE LG G4!

I wish LG did right by us and didn't sweep all of our concerns under the rug.

Thank you all for your time and thanks for being so informative

I told them that it is everywhere on the Internet, there answer was "we have no record of it from our management so it is not official and you can not believe the rumors that you on the internet". I am waiting for them to send me a "new" (translation means refurbished). I am wondering if it might be time for a class action lawsuit. I paid for a new phone, get sold a defective phone, then get a used phone. This just does not seem right. My wife has one too, tried to get that one replaced too and was told that i have to wait for it to die, again, this does not seem right. It just seems like all us early G4 adopters are being left holding the leaky bag of crap
