The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

Mine has S/N starting 506 and it happened to me today (364 days after purchase) gutted, not backed up and out of the blue :-[

a software update will do nothing to resolve a problem that is clearly a manufacturing default

Pretty nervous, my g4 is fairly new about 3 months old but it's a sprint model and the screen has a hairline Crack already. I'm wondering if I should sell for 100 bucks and count my losses. I put insurance on my phone for this I knew it was a possibility but kinda worried a but, I hoped it would last till the end of the year but now I don't know. What should I do? Sell and move on or wait? I only have one phone.

Mine died last week; Sprint model with the early serial numbers. It just went to the boot screen while I was using it and never got past it again. Brought it into the Sprint repair store. They verified the boot loop issue, replaced it with a brand new unit and had me out the door within 45 minutes. Techs were well aware of the problem. For those of you complaining of losing data because it's not backed up, that's your own fault. Any phone can die at the drop of a hat (or phone). In my opinion, not issuing a general recall but instead replacing with new is the correct way to handle this. Not every handset will fail due to this issue, but when it does they go above and beyond what's expected.

Hello, guys.

First post here on these forums. And since it's here, in this topic...guess what happened.

Verizon, G4, Serial Number starts with 508. I had thought (hoped...really hard) it was just a bad argument with my job's WiFi. Of course, it wasn't. Did a factory reset, nothing. Pulled the battery, nothing. I'm not crazy tech-savvy, so I didn't have it rooted or anything like that. Usage was normal until that moment.

I'm just frustrated right now. I babied this thing, hoping it wouldn't happen to me. But here we are.

Had this happen to me this week. Verizon SN 508, went into the Text Message app and all of a sudden it just froze. Took the battery out , put it back in and it was at the LG splash screen and that was it. Was able to get into the boot menu, tried all options including factory default settings but nothing worked.

Went to the local Verizon store and they sent me a replacement (refurb) unit the following day. SN of the replacement is 505.....ugh.

Interesting. It's gonna be fun to see what this yields.
"handle strategies for product development, manufacturing, marketing and sales"

Guess they don't care about customer service, without that all the efforts that the new exec has will fall flat on their faces.

Well, after careful consideration of my options, I traded my G4 for a brand new, heavily discounted Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. I was becoming rather worried of my G4 failing again now that its warranty was almost over in July. The G4 is a great phone, and it never gave me a major issue after being repaired. But seeing so many recent reports of phones failing really tipped the scale in favor of changing my phone.

Thanks to all that posted valuable information here. I'll keep checking the thread for sure.

Well I had posted in a different thread but thought I'd add my name to this "official" one. Serial number 359 died on june 6. I sent it away to fix and it is back now.

I am just frustrated with how LG is so passive about this. My Carrier agreed to give me a $45 credit because I couldn't use the phone for 2 weeks.

2 to 3 years ago I swore off Sammy... But now I think I might upgrade to the Note 7 when it comes out.

I sent mine into LG after this issue, and they said because I had some scratches on the screen from sand at the beach that the warranty was voided. I am utterly pissed with LG and how they've handled this... I have treated this phone with the utmost care and never installed from unknown sources yet they refuse to acknowledge that it is their phone that's messed up.

The EXACT same thing happened to me today when I contacted LG. They killed my phone and said the warranty is void because of a tiny scratch. I am done. I am sharing on social media and warning everyone about the crap they pulled and I'm looking into Samsung. DONE.

Yup me too. I used to wear my non-adoption of Apple and Samsung like a badge Of honour. My last three phones were LG G4, LG G3 and LG Nexus 4. No more. Likely looking at the Samsung Note 7.

has anyone tried to have an international version (H815) warrantied in the USA?

I got the H815 and it has the boot issue. Contacted LG USA but they won't help me since they only deal with USA devices.
Figured if this issue is global any LGE office should be able to provide warranty.

Any help would be great since dealing with LGE USA has been useless
