The LG G3 has arrived :-)

Re: Sum up the G3 in one word.

Krusty referred to the Cadillac as 'the Rolls-Royce of automobiles'. Perhaps the G3 is the 'G2 of smartphones'.

Re: Life's Good G3

I'll understand perfectly if you prefer not to say, but could you narrow down what area of Scotland? East, West, Western Isles, Orkneys, Shetlands...

Ah, I see...guillemots, razorbills, puffins, fulmars, skuas, the cry of the Great Northern Diver? Whether those things or not, looks a good place to be judging by your photos.

Three cylinders. Six exhaust beats per revolution of the driving wheels. Quite a lot of cropping.

Re: Why I think Lg got it right?

The way Lg have implemented a 5.5" into such a neat and tidy and need I say a very stylish form factor is a great feat.

They have thought it through in terms of remedying the rear buttons, upgrading the camera and tidying up the Ui.

The Welcome bonus of this Quad HD screen and removable battery and Micro SD slot are another thumbs up.

You have Htc with the One M8 and that is a very stylish and overall attractive package.

You have the Galaxy S5 which in some aspects a great product but in many others and IMO it was a let down from an otherwise respectable company.

For example the attempt from Samsung to tone down touchwiz was half hearted (like they didn't really want to).

HTC done a great job with their Ui in Sense 6 and a job well done.

However to now conclude as to why I think Lg got it right.

They looked at design and yes perhaps rushed the Qhd out there but such is the nature of business and maybe yes its pushing the 801 chip to the Maximum, I can't really tell as I hand on heart I am not experiencing anything that I put down as a complaint (minor lag) but its not now noticeable in that I have just one page of folders in my app drawer (eliminating scrolling). But as an overall package Camera, Quad HD screen, decent battery life, removable battery, and inclusion of the SD card slot.

Out of the iterations from the M7 to M8,

The S4 to the S5

And the G2 to the G3

Lg continued and built on the popularity of the G2 or maybe bad choice of words but the respect of the G2 in that all round it offered a lot in that package.

The Lg G3 does the same and they got in most part it right.

Of course there has been a few duds that unfortunately some have been inflicted of poor performance to poor auxiliary and connection problems.

I hope they have or get it resolved or at some point perhaps return and once again enjoy a fine product in the G3.

Or perhaps the attraction of the Note 4 is to much or Nexus 6 or the X+1. The oppo find 7 or the One plus one.

The android market it extensive and has a lot on offer.

But the G3 is up there as the take notice device as it fits this wonderful display into a neat package.

And all of the above is why I think Lg got it right.

G3 is beset with performance issues. Ergonomics and comfort are fine. But there are too many complaints of performance problems. Dull, washed out looking screen. Poor outside visibility. Fast battery drain. Overheating to the point that a pop up box appears on the screen. Device lowers brightness automatically when it gets hot. Apps hesitate to open. Stuttering when scrolling.
LG has moved backwards from the G2. The only 2 things the G3 has over the G2 is a better battery cover and a slightly bigger screen, and that's subjective. The G2 is a smooth performer and a battery champ.
G3's overall performance is a disappointment.
At the end of the day, performance trumps pretty.

The only point I can agree with is outside visibility is not the best.

As for the rest....

Overheating-have not experienced this with my use and UHD test.

Battery drain hmm it's not on par with my Z2 but its not poor I average 4 1/2 to 5hrs screen on time.

Dull & Washed out screen-Its no Amoled but its not meant to be, I have found colours to be perfectly fine and white is white and blacks are black again its not as popping as Amoled but over saturated is Marmite you'll love it or hate it. I'm more than happy with the screen and wouldn't apply washed out or faded to this screen but that's just my visual.

Performance issues-My use consists of surfing web, music sometimes both at the same time, photos, a bit of video recording
Messaging and Fb and not one complaints here oh and I'm using the less 2/16gb variant.

I'm not saying these issues don't exist, but on my device as a conclusion all seems very well.

And everyone that has smooth running G3's would disagree...

The G2 is a very nice phone (daughter has one) but I'd choose the G3 any day... And I did

What everyone is seeing is threads and posts from a very few, rather vocal minority from those who have had a concern that has gotten blown all out of proportion and over-exaggerated to the point that anyone looking into getting the G3 is incorrectly sent in another direction.
With any mass produced item, the occasional "bad apple" is bound to slip through.
Most everyone who had a concern was happy once they switched out the unit for another one.
Some just returned it and that is OK. You can't please everyone.
Just my $.02
I am VERY happy with my G3.

I have absolutely none of these problems. I do wish at times that they went with 1080p screen for better battery life though.

For anyone thinking of purchasing the G3 this is my take on it.

Let me start by getting this out if the way. No doubt you have had a scan to see what issues have arisen or what people are saying about the G3. I suspect that you have watched YouTube videos of various Tech journalists/reviewers.

This is great and you should balance things out and also look at the whole picture in terms of pros and cons to exaggerated issues to positive outlook.

But on every forum to every review there will be differences and these relate to personal opinions.

It has been mentioned by myself and one or two of the other forum members here at AC in that with any mass produced items be it smartphones or washing machines, televisions ect that duds will creep through QC. its unfortunate that these land in hands, which then leads to this product is poor and they almost make it sound like all handsets are effected.

This is obviously not the case.

Some have posted here and with help have found their issues have been resolved which is obviously great.

So without further ado

Based on the 2/16gb D855 variant.

I have had very minor lag at the start of my G3 experience, this was rectified by following a method over at XDA and now subsequently posted here also. I now have a blisteringly fast G3.

Temperature well I have run a UHD video test for the allocated 5mins and yes it got warm but never hot, no warnings or force closures.

Battery life well its actually very decent and I average 4 1/2 to 5 screen on time. So comments that its poor or dismal are not accurate.

Overall performance of the G3 is very good and whatever your needing to get done will get done smoothly and enjoyably.

So this is rather a statement if your thinking of purchasing the G3.

Sure it's great to get feedback and look at reviews we all do. But take some things with a pinch of salt is all I'm saying.

And hell take that 14 day test drive and see if it fits and works for you.

Thanks for reading and hope this post helps clear the mind.

lg g3 Like or Dislike its OK.

There has been heated debates one involving myself and to which I'll be man enough to apologise for.

That out they way there are mixed opinions and they are exactly that, ones very own opinion.

Whether its down to the screen, or the performance, build and design the G3 aint going to be to everyone's liking.

This may be down to a poor first impression coupled with a faulty handset.

For quite a few they are enjoying including myself and there for fall into the like category.

But if you dislike that is all good. Its your prerogative to choose what you like or dislike.

I just can't place the G3 in a case.

For the life of me I just can't do it, with all my phones I have gone screen protector and case free.

Personally I appreciate the design to much, I would consider a skin as a refresh perhaps. Cases detract from the original design.

The way I see it designers place a lot of time and effort into it, and I want to enjoy their efforts.

If it falls and breaks atleast from the time of purchase to the time of if it happens enjoying the originality and must say very nice design of the G3.

I don't hate cases as previously stated I just prefer not to use them.

To much health and safety, I'll take my chances :-)
