The LG G3 has arrived :-)

re:

and this is why rooting is not a good idea for a lot of people....

Yeah rooting itself is fine, and if you stick to certain perimeters all is usually sound. Its when you get a mad idea to do something that in reality doesn't need doing then you can get into a bit of bother.

Thankfully I have experience of getting out of situations like this but others may find it to much.

Just stick to subtle tweaks and all is good, but don't get adventurous unless you know what your doing (yup I'm taking my own advice here lol).

re:

Typically you try out this kind of stuff when you first get the phone, so you lose no setup time. Like I did with the bad lcd.density edit.

Once you're set, and made some learning mistakes, you can really start using your device.

Rooting Mods

So you have your new G3 and your blown away with the stunning design and the 5.5 QHD screen.

But you want further customisation, fear not your only one click root away...

My Mods through G3 tweakbox

1)Blurred Notification Shade (really like)

2)more steps to volume

3)Circle Battery (with percentage)

4)Centre Clock

5)Added Screenshot & torch to power off menu.

DPI Changer

Changed mine to 570 and its just better :-)

Trickster Mod

Changed to performance and the G3 is silky smooth.

So what's your mods if you have decided to root?

Not sure about T-Mobile, I'm in Scotland with the D855 variant.

Towelroot is safe and it will either work or won't (it won't mess up if it fails).

There are Iroot or purpledrake, head over to XDA developers to check.

Or perhaps someone here that has a T-Mobile G3 & rooted?

LOL we all make those kinds of mistakes, fortunately you knew enough to get back out of it. I remember back when I attempted to root my Fascinate. Soft bricked it and panicked. Took me damn near 5 hours to figure it out. That is how I found AC and XDA. Whenever someone asks about rooting or rom'ing I always tell them to read, read, read, read, do not take short cuts, read.

Anyway, glad you are back up and running well, good luck all the way around.

Although I knew it was soft bricked I still panicked a bit as I knew it would be a bit more complicated.

1)My previous rooting was solely on the Note 3

2)Lg is well different and wasn't sure if factory images were available yet lol

But yes it took my a few hours to sus everything and whew I'm back up and running, rooted again but I'm going to hold back on messing around with stuff that in reality doesn't need messing with (phone is how I like it and silky smooth).

That is the advice I would give, read and then read some more and just as you think you have it, read again.

Yeah I was fortunate that I knew a little (by no means an expert) to get myself out of it.

Thanks Nonexus was a huge relief when the flash worked :-)

Battery Comparison Thread

Just thought I would use this space so that users can compare battery life.

This is my most recent 6hrs of screen on, I wouldn't say the G3 is bad.

No battery saving was used and screen brightness set at 50%.
