The mobile OS war is over

If you drop all the Android competitor and just pair up Samsung vs Apple and you'll see Android is still dominating.

The logic you follow still is false when the iPhone came out Windows phones where made by a multitude of vendors, by yoyr logic they should have never surpassed Windows.

My point is that can coexist and this "war" is silly. Apple doesn't need to lose in order for Android to thrive.

Apple isn't floundering, contrary to what some link-bait sites want you to believe. Record revenue? Record sales? So much cash in the bank? lol.

Japan belongs to Apple: iPhone claims top 10 spots in total smartphone sales in November

In news that Android fanboys will likely want to spit at, Japan?s top 10 smartphone sales chart currently reads 100-percent iPhone, it has been revealed.

Now carried by all three of the country?s biggest mobile providers, Apple?s iPhone has become immensely popular in Japan in recent years and is seemingly the must-have mobile this November.

Despite strong competition from Samsung?s Galaxy series and Sony with its Xperia Z1 (released in Japan on October 23), across Japan?s three biggest mobile carriers, NTT docomo, KDDI?s au, and Softbank, Apple?s smartphones now hold the entire top 10 in the sales chart, proving once and for all that despite its initial reluctance to embrace smartphones, Japan now simply adores iPhone.

NTT docomo claimed the most iPhone sales overall, perhaps on account of the 5s and 5c being the first iPhones the mobile operator has ever carried and its customers leaping on the chance to get a little bit of shiny new Apple tech.

Total handset sales across all networks

1. iPhone 5s 32GB (NTT docomo)

2. iPhone 5c 16GB (Softbank)

3. iPhone 5s 64GB (Softbank)

4. iPhone 5s 32GB (Softbank)

5. iPhone 5s 32GB (au)

6. iPhone 5s 16GB (Softbank)

7. iPhone 5s 16GB (au)

8. iPhone 5c 16GB (au)

9. iPhone 5s 16GB (NTT docomo)

10. iPhone 5s 64GB (au)

Ry, some don't want peaceful coexistence. Not sure why but that's the way it is.

via the phone

Some, but not all. I have both (5s and Note3), and use them for entirely different reasons. I like both devices. In my BEST New York (Brooklyn) accent...."you gotta a problem wit tat"....SMILE

Ry no matter how often you post the common sense answer, and show Apple is still widely successful despite Android being successful as well these Android groupies will argue with you. They want it to appear Apple is failing horrifically no matter what, and will argue that position until you agree. The reason for this phenomenon who knows. It's entertaining to watch though.

It appears that there are a lot of people who believe their brand is not worth paying for.

And there are a lot that believe it is worth paying for. That's why it is the best-selling smartphone EVERY year since it's introduction, and is the #1 seller on the U.S.carriers every year. It obviously serves the needs of many who don't need to carry a computer in their pocket. Plus, their resale value absolutely KILLS any Android.

That's amazing.

10% isn't that large. But why does Apple have to lose for Android to win?
In this context: To dispel common myths about Apple.

The reason these threads exist is because Apple people attempt to defend the myths. If they agreed, there would be no thread because there would be no argument. The threads exist because Apple people allow them to exist. They want to argue about it too.

The reason I (personally) am cheerleading Apple's decline is because I hate closed systems and do not want them to become standard. If iOS was hovering in the 10% range, I would no longer care. Just as I don't care about Macs anymore. It is not about Apple itself to me, but about closed systems in general. I hate them and want to see them fail.

Apple continues to sell more iPhones than it ever has. They're doing just fine.
Whistling past the graveyard.

What the story does not say is the reasons behind those sales. The Japanese resent Koreans and show this by refusing to buy Korean products.

Complicating Samsung's efforts to sell phones to Japan is an unfavorable view of South Korea related to a territorial dispute over islands located between the two nations, a squabble that has been escalating for years.

In 2011, Japan's foreign ministry instructed its staffers not fly with Korean Air. The two countries have long maintained a rivalry. In stark contrast, modern Japan has long viewed America more favorably, with a particular affinity for Apple and in particular Steve Jobs.
Apple's iPhone 5s & 5c take 9 of Japan's top 10 smartphone sales spots

And the iPhone gains in Japan appear to be the exception to the rule worldwide:

Despite iPhone release, Android gains smartphone market share ?except in Australia and Japan
Despite the release of a new iPhone from Apple, Google?s Android operating system has gained smartphone market share in most major markets during the October quarter.

So you also use Linux exclusively on all of your PC's?

How is Windows closed? I can install whatever I want on it, from any source, and use any hardware. Windows has never been a walled garden system.

You have to get Metro apps from the Microsoft store.
