The Nexus 6 isn't as big as you guys think.!

Obviously for Google to convince Motorola to release a 6 inch version of the Motorola X 2014 edition that is superior to it in every way it had to make sense to both companies. If someone wants a smaller Nexus 6 then get a Droid Turbo and be happy.

If Apple only released a 6+ the fans would have grumbled a little and then bought it in droves. Apple swore for years 3.5 was the perfect screen size and then went to 4 inches and made fun of everyone who was at 4.3 or 4.5 as being too big and now they have 4.7 and 5.5... but from 2007 - 20012 they offered just one flavor/size phone per year....

As for the Nexus 6.... Being on every carrier and being offered and sold in stores and on contract...................... People said the original Note was going to flop.... I think you are going to be very surprised at the number of Nexus 6 devices that sell... The Note is still very popular and the Nexus 6 is just barely bigger than the Note 3/4 with an almost .30 inch larger screen....

I completely disagree with your Apple assessment, but its all opinion. Your's is as good as mine.

As for the 6, I will be surprised if it sells 1/10th of what Samsung sold in the GS5. As for the Note comparison, they are two completely different devices. The Note uses the S pen and has software designed for the larger screen. The N6 is just a huge phone.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. I'm disappointed because I would have loved to get me some vanilla android with great battery life and camera in a one handed package. My Z3C will continue to serve me well.

1/10th of the S5? Why don't we compare it to the LG G3.... that's probably a more fair comparison than the S5... But I'd still bet you this "nothing but a large phone" will sell very very well!

I know several people with the Note 3 who never use the S pen or specialized software!

My wife and I each have a Note 2. We never use our S pens or the specialized software. Big phones are great for using the internet and watching video. I don't need specialty software for that. I just need a big screen. The bigger the better.

exactly. I use the s pen very rarely, if I want to quickly write something down. but thats about it.

Except that the Turbo only works for Verizon

Exactly I want a big phone to consume more data than I really should! These cat videos ain't gonna watch themselves!

Well there is always the smaller droid turbo with its 5.2" and same specs for those who want a high end smaller phone. Yes the droid is only on verizon but rumors of a gsm version for att and tmo

It's funny that these days we're talking about a 5.2" phone being "smaller". I remember when 4.5" was considered huge.

But Google is still offering the Nexus 5
Sure, it's not the latest phone, but the Nexus 5's specs are still relatively high end and it is very fast. (Lollipop should make it even faster) I think it's still a good deal for $349. Or get a good used one for around $250-280.

I remember when the htc evo was considered huge with its 4.3" display

My daughter has the iPhone 6+, and it's too big for my hands. The Nexus 6 is bigger yet! Not for me, thank you. I'll be taking a hard look at the Moto X Pure Edition. 5.2" is about as big a phone as i want.:p

The Evo was my first smartphone and was a monster when it came out. Everyone said 512MB memory and a 4.3" screen was just too much and it'd be a niche product. It was the true original phone which paved the way for bigger more powerful devices, and was one of the most heavily supported and popular phones on XDA.

I love that little guy!!

Nexus One was my first smart phone... But I didn't keep it long.... I was a long time sprint customer and tried the Nexus One out with T-Mobile.. at the time I traveled a lot and their coverage was just horrible so I ended up selling it and getting the EVO when it came out and it was a monster (at the time) I remember leaving Best Buy with it thinking "This is outrageous... I can't use this as a PHONE." but you get use to it quickly that is for sure....

I am still using the Nexus 10 and it is going on over 2 years old. It is still a great device and will be getting L. So I feel like I got my monies worth with that device. I will do the same with the Nexus 6. It is easy a 2 year device and will be well worth the money and will get updates due to it's specs. And the size is great for me. I am older now and don't see as well. The bigger screen will help with that among other things. And I have always used my phone two handed.

Moto X 2014 has sub par battery life and a sub par camera. We already have the Nexus 5 for that.
Lollipop hitting the Nexus 5 addresses both of those issues effectively - 30% increase in battery life from Volta, enormous improvements in camera (which was on par to similarly priced equipment, only falling behind devices running 75-100% more in cost) from the open camera API.

I think I'm just to jump in head first and pre-order the thing. Don't know how well my hands will handle the phone size, but I figure I'll be able to adapt after a week or so. If not, Google is pretty good about returns and I'll just go for the Droid Turbo.

I got a chance to play with a Nexus 6 Case which I found at a kiosk in the mall. The height doesn't bother me as much as the width which at 83 mm is crazy. If anybody wants a good comparison device, the LG G Flex is basically the same size except it is 2 mm narrower compared to the Nexus 6.

Oh, yes it is!!
I just got my belt case for it. My wife thought it was her new clutch purse.
It's huge!
I've been wanting a tablet that I could occasionally use as a phone. Looks like this is it.
