I can tell you that the notched pic looks like an iPhone... And the non notched looks much cleaner (to me).

This is my 1+6 phone both pictures, you have the choice to disable the notch. Now my opinion on this or any notch phone after studying it , yes screen goes higher with notch that's because the notification is transparent compared to the no notch. They both share the same information just one is transparent and the other is not . So I think you gain nothing or lose nothing it's just a design to be different , which I'm ok with that but u can do same thing in a Nova launcher making notification transparent or not

True, true. It may be as simple as I need to use a phone with a notch to realize it's not a big deal.

You gain screen space as opposed to not having the notch with a full bezel.
As an example going from the 2XL to the 3XL you gain more screen.
In your case the space is always the same because the notifications don't move with notch on or off. At least it doesn't look like that in your samples.

I don't see that , besides having the appearance being no bezel... information will remain the same just transparent

if you ask me about my iPhone X notch I think they took some area away because the notch is to wide .. Android took the notch of Apple and made it better where you don't lose information

You can't actually disable the notch since it's physically there. What they're actually doing is hiding/camouflaging the notch. Just saying.
