The Note 8 has poor battery life and poor brightness, give me the Note 7!!!

Poor brightness? Wasn't this rated top marks for display accuracy, including lumen level?

If you want the Note 7, there's the FE available :)

No complaints here. Mild usage at work, AOD on. Been playing with it all evening. Screen brightness all the way up and set at WQHD+.

That's just one reviewer's opinion and I've already read or viewed several really good ones prior to this one so... whatever YOU want to believe. Read what the people here who are already getting them are saying!

I'm not sure what is going on with yours but I've had all the notes, some iPhones, HTC etc.... This phone freaking blows them out the water although I have not had a S8 or + but damn!

But the thing is, if you read the review they rated the display as excellent and the battery as good.... So where the OP is getting "poor" from is beyond me

Thats not true, they criticized it in their review and said the max brightness was only 518 nits!

"We don't love how Samsung limits screen brightness in manual mode, and if you prefer really intentional control over display output, you're never going to be able to set the Note 8's brightness to anywhere near the hardware's limits. Toggle auto-brightness on and that ceiling raises considerably, though we've still seen plenty of phones with brighter screens than the Note 8."

They might be referring to Sammy's 'Sunlight Mode' which does kick in only in Auto Mode and Adaptive Picture (it used to be a separate setting for the camera, though, and a special toggle on the Display settings). It cranks up contrast and color levels and I guess brightness as well?

But they are saying even in auto mode with the ceilings raised that there is still plenty of phones with brighter screens? I thought this one was rated number one for brightness

Ummm... not sure if for brightness. Yes for accuracy, and general reviews are that it IS bright, but not sure if it's THE brightest so far.

Day 1. Received the phone at 87%. So you got day one data transfers, loading apps, resigning in.. and it's still going after 9 hours of almost constant screen on.. I couldn't be happier and I'm browsing this forum to help kill out the battery lol. I believe in fully draining it a few times and every once in a while..

According to displaymate it's the brightest one they have tested. But maybe they don't test them all

I'm on my phone nearly nonstop from 6am until about 7pm. Last night before bed I still had 40% left. That's excellent in my opinion!

I have the Note 8. Battery so far has been great and amazing brightness. Came from the S8+ and had the Note 7 twice
