The Official Battery Life Thread

Dear Social Location App... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!
this is the stupidest app and kills battery like no other...

So basically from that you can predict about 13-14hrs of battery life on a charge with light/moderate use..... tell us again why that is a bad thing? That's quite good for Android.

I got around 16 hours from last night to today. Some texting, some Pandora, some Web browsing and some tapatalk

Today, with LTE radio off, I got 11 hours from full charge to 30%. Couple of short phone calls, 30 to 40 emails received (TouchDown), 20 minutes of browsing, and probably 10 minutes of streaming video.

Going to order the extended battery tonight it tomorrow.

If you buy it in the store the price will probably be cheaper. The stores around here are doing 50% off of batteries for 4G devices and the last I checked that was NOT reflected on the website.

I tweaked every thing I could, turned 4G off, just email and phone (and this forum) phone died at ten hours. I just don't see the point of a fast phone if I must slow it down. I loved the phone in all areas but battery, it went back to costco. Back to the DX until battery life meets my life.

Nice. Wonder if I still get my 28% government/educational discount too? Will call first. Not wasting gas if they're out of stock.

Not sure if anyone here already posted it, but does the bluetooth draining extra battery life? I keep getting like 7 to 9hr with my phone, cell stanby 28%, bluetooth 27%, Phone idle 19%, display 11%, voice call 8%, OS 3%, Media 3%, browser 2%, music 2%.
Everyday Is almost the same and the thing is on my driodx bluetooth was alway on and didn't pass 5%.

Yes, having Bluetooth on will kill your battery faster.

Running with the extended battery with 4G on I got (with light usage ~2 hrs display time) from 7:30 am to 11 pm before requiring a recharge. That's during a workday, where my phone isn't being used a ton from 7:30 - 6 pm except for some music, texting, etc. That's about the 16 hours most were reporting.

Obviously turning off 4G and on wifi will greatly increase that.

I got the 50% off on both the stock battery and the extended life one but didn't get my employer one on top of that so I am guessing not but this is still cheaper. If they are out of stock they will have it shipped to your home but yeah it wouldn't hurt to call first.

Just thought I put in what I got on my extended battery. I was able to get 9hrs on only 50% with the standard battery. This weekend I had time to test a full charged extended battery here are my results.

1d 11h 33m at 30%

Standby 33%
Idle 30%
Fring 15% (left it on by accident)
Wi-Fi 13%
Voice Calls 5%
Display 4%
OS 3%

My display's brightness is set to the lowest it goes. 4G off but I did have it on for about 30mins testing speeds while away from wi-fi. Also use Juice defender and set some apps to auto-kill in the task manager. All this was done with quite a bit of texting, a few voice calls and playing a couple games for about an hour. I'm happy.:)

Can someone post how big the extended battery is and how big the phone looks compared to one with the standard in it?

Also for $25 does it come with a new back or is that separate?

On and I assume you can no longer use the dock with it...

Can't post a pic, but yes, for $25 it comes with a new back for the extended battery. And it still fits in all the docks.

IIRC, the standard back on the Bionic is relatively flat.

If you look at the standard dock, you'll see it's thinner where the camera is on the left hand side, and then widens shortly to the right. This fits the form factor of Bionic when outfitted with the extended battery case.

I'll take a look at it when I get home but the question remains - how does this thing look and feel with the heavier battery and bigger back?

No one has a picture?

Personally, I like it with a little more heft to it. And it tends to keep the camera area away from resting on surfaces.

But I'm also someone who lugged around a T-Mobile MDA for 4.5 years, so having a beefier phone is standard for me.

Best thing to do is to just stop by a Verizon store and ask them to show you what it looks/feels like with the extended battery. They were more than happy to open a package and let me "try one on" to see. Of course then they "forgot" about the $25 price when I went to ring it up, so I reminded them, and then it was all good.

I watched some video's and it is pretty big compared to the regular case.

Right now my standard has been on for 3 1/2 hours and is at 77%. Very light use.

Only reason I'm debating is because it's on sale. I probably don't need it but it also protects the camera which is nice...

For $50+, I probably would not have bothered. For <$30, I figured what the heck.

Across the life of the phone, the extended batt will probably save me $30 in frustration at various points.
