The Official Battery Life Thread

Do you have a very poor signal? and also something is still probably not right @ that rate of drain....... UNLESS!!! You are talking about soon after you took the phone off of the charger... In that case you probable didn't have an accurate reading to begin with

I have an airave in my house where I made the call from so very strong signal, I'm going to try to get a battery out of them for nothing if this continues, I'm getting absolutely hammered when I make calls. And I was at 50% when I made the call so it wasn't when I took it off the charger.

Yeah I have an Airave also but I lose maybe 1 % every 10 min or so... Makes me think it's the phone and not the battery

i think yesterday i was in a 50 min call and i lost about roughly 20-25 percent battery n that was 3 g and decent signal in a warehouse building.. also i usually when im using the internet or a application lose about 1 percent every 3 minutes sometimes 1 percent every 2 min it depends i guess.. i still feel that i should be squuezing more... on moderate use i get 8 hours 9 max on more heavier use i barely squeeze 6 but i have alot of down time... maybe its because i keep my brightness levels over 50 percent somewhere around 60 or 70 percent , also my home screen is the hts clock widget with weather ect im sure that burns juice and also i have a high resolution picture of me and my girl in the home screen, so im sure that burns the display up a little... thats my guess what i do as well that helps is turn of 4 g when in stand by, turn auto syn off ... again willing to try the option to turn off task manager at launch and see.. also some have said juice defender is good as well... when i recharge the battery i will see what voltage i get...

Go figure did a test as we speak n while surfin the internet on this websitewith only1 bar on my 4g lit upand brightness at 60 pecent in 10 minutes I lost 9 percent but when at lunch time I hadgps turnedon n 4 g and I ran navigation n surged i only lost 5 percent in 15 min what gives. Perhaps its thepoor 4 g signal insideabuilding that is now suckin up more juice

I have a question that doesn't deal with a problem per say. So say that the green light comes on it says battery charge is full....why is it that if you turn the phone off you can then charge it for a while longer before the green light comes back on. I just think this is very odd. Can anyone explain it?

It's called bump charging, if I remember correctly. It's a method to get a truly full charge on your phone. Basically you plug in your phone and charge to full, then turn off and it will charge more, then turn on and charge more... And so on. That doesn't answer your question, really, but a search for bump charging might.

That's good enough for me lol. Is this something we should do every time we charge the phone(basically every night)?

It takes a lot of time. Without it, you still get around 98% charge, so it doesn't make a huge difference.

Hey guys I was looking for the thread on how to claibrate the battery and couldnt find it.. what are the steps again if you can walk me through it... I dont want to do a hard reset because that means I would have to customize alot of settings and tweak here n there to much work.. I think it was charging it on to 100 percent than shutting down while plugged in and keep charging am i wrong..

Just went for bike ride. Had gps on, using a gps tracking app, jogstats,,, using music player, bluetooth on using bluetooth stereo headphones,, got lost so needed google maps, received a bunch of text and had a 5 mins convo on phone threw bluetooth. All this in a 2 hour span and I am still at 75 percent. Holy cow! The same exact circumstances on my evo 4g and i would have been down in the 40 to 50 percent range.

ok i was reading the faqs of the battery calibration and they say if your awake time and up time r the same you have a problem of perhaps having a apllication permission that prevents ur phone from sleeping, and when i checked one by on the flashlight, dolphin hd browser, shazam and fb for android all prevent the phone from freezing so what are we supposed not to have these apps.. and if you enable power efficency and take out mobile data will your yahoo emails push to notify ect and other things what are the draw backs..

That's why juice defender is so great, you set it up the way you want. If you want everything off when screen is off except yahoo email, then you can set it up that way. Just an example.

i get you with juice defender but let me say that when my screen is off my phone hardly ever burns battery something like 1 percent every 20 minutes or so.. its when its on that the juice starts flowing using the net ect at times it burns 1 percent every 1 min or 2 and at times it gets better at 1 percent every 3 or 4 min depends on signal i guess n 4 g ect... other than that my voltage seems to be fine at 4.4 approx

You can disable what ever you want even when screen is on.

So I did every tip listed, hard reset, calibrated the battery in the FAQ, been off the charger since 6:30AM, used it for a bit of email, a good amount of texting, been on WiFi, 3G and even some 4G, a few short phone calls....currently at 24% battery life. I think that's pretty good, certainly better than what I was getting a few days ago. I still think it's off compared to what others are getting(though I think they're exaggerating IMO) but this will work....I guess the battery had to break in a bit???

So my uptime matches my awake time. How do I figure out which app is not letting my phone sleep? The interface for running apps has changed :(

Check app refresh intervals... And if u don't see a culprit... Start deleting apps until you have it pin pointed.... Things are a lot harder now that spare parts doesn't work to show partial wake time...
