The Official Battery Life Thread

Wow, that battery life kills my experience with battery life so far. I just installed Juice Defender Plus given zman's results. I'll post results tomorrow night, although I am a bit unclear on choosing the optimal settings.

I have it on extreme, as another poster suggested. Keep in mind certain apps that connect to internet, like taptalk for instance may take like 5 seconds to respond once you wake the screen. Unless you have that app enabled to stay on when screen is off.

I've just configured the apps, and I seem to be having issues. Actually, maybe it's not an issue, but just Juice Defender working. I have the Gmail app enabled even while screen is off, and e-mail isn't getting through. What has your experience been with Gmail (if you use that), or e-mail in general? Text messages are getting through no problem.

on my battery use it says display 74 percent and everything else like 4 or 3 percent wtf.. how can the display be sucking up so much juice, i must adit i have a pic of me n my gf and a clock widget running, plus weather plus i have settings at around 60 to 70 percent brightness

I don't use 4G at all, but my guess is that 4G (wimax) is very tough on your battery. Maybe disable 4G for a test and compare your results?

Alright. My phone totally died.

I think I posted at 9pm and said that I've been going 14 hours strong. From about 9 until now (11:30) I've been on my phone nonstop. So It drained completely dead in 2 1/2 hours from 60% battery life. So take that for what it's worth.

Like I said, I'm at work through the day but I use my phone on calls, videos and taking photos and what not. Am I a power user? I don't know but I use my phone when I want without thinking my battery might drain.

So I got 16 1/2 hours on a full battery charge doing what I normally would be doing.

I'd be happy to share any information if interested about my setting more in detail, etc. Just let me know.

My battery life was horrible. Then I stumbled across an HTC or Android feature that tells you what is using your battery. From the home screen press the menu button | settings | about phone | battery | battery use.

It seems that the biggest hogs I had were the display and WiFi. So I put the HTC WiFi widget on my home screen and now turn it off when I am not using it. I then went and found a widget for screen brightness because the display is way brighter than I need. The one I found is "Brightness Level", and I also placed it on one of my home screens.

I also tuned my notification settings on mail, Facebook, and such to be less frequent.

Finally, I downloaded a battery level widget named "Gauge battery".

With all of those adjustment my battery life is now way better.

I've been getting around 12 hours or so with pretty good use. Would like it to go to 15 or so, if possible.

Still having trouble with the phone never charging (or displaying, anyway) to 100%

After a full over night charge I got about 14 hours out of it with very moderate use on my E3D.

it looks like the display power usage is the norm for everyone, i have mine set at 35% brightness and it still says I use around 85%.

Good to know. I have mine on auto and its shows at 83 percent. So switching from auto to something low will really make no difference

I had my EVO 3D off the charger since 7am. It is now 8:57pm and I'm at a little over 60% battery.

So yes, 14 hours and I'm at 60% battery life! I'd say I'm extremely happy.

I have brightness at 75%
I have facebook widget and twitter widget running and set to auto sync.
I've had 4G on since 5pm and it's still on.
I've made calls
Played the spiderman game for about 45 minutes on the trip home
Watched 3D youtube videos
took some 3D pictures
browsed the web
texted

I used my phone as heavy as I would any other day of the week.

So after 14 hours and still at 60% I'm thrilled with my purchase.

Good stuff.

How?

Greetings, all. I got my 3d Friday 8AM and did not do the update as warned by several posts. Saturday I used the free golf caddy gps. Phone was fast and app was great.

By the 4th or 5th hole, 1 hour, phone had used 40% or more on app.

Now that I've done the updates, I hope the life will be better as some have reported.

I'll drain and fully charge today area times as devgrp suggests.

I'll report back soon.

Significant improvement after calibrating battery.

Try it; you'll like it.

:-).
:p
Still want a 3500 battery though.

moderate use 12 to 18 hours and thats because i drained it right out the box went to work at 530 in the morning went to my night job at 11pm and i had 9% when i left work at 3 am so its a pretty good battery

Ok guys last night i let the battery drain all the way and i charged the phone on all night , than i disconnected charger and turned phone off and connected charger again and it charged for 40 more minutes even after it was fullay charged when it was on all night.. weird that it would charge for another hour when i turned it off and re connected and after a hour of moderate use.. moderate is 50 percent using it n 50 percent stand by and im at 93 percent now after 1 hr n 10 minutes.... now this juice defender what does it actually do or disable because i love my brightness at at least 50 percent and i like my things auto matically synching every so often.. i did disconeect 4 g when not in use and wifi.. what else can i do and how can i exactly calibrate my battery.. when i got this phone the battery came with 5 percent on it .. and the first few charges werent exactly i let it drain and fully charge

Now that I've had this phone for 5 days, I'm hugely disappointed in the battery life. My EVO 4g (rooted with Cyanogenmod) lasted at least twice as long and that's after having it for a year. HTC can't unlock this phone fast enough for me. I can't stand waking up the the morning to see my phone is powered down due to lack of battery when it had 40% before bed. Granted, I keep my screen at 100%, but the screen isn't on at night, so that much drain doesn't make sense. I need to get the junk off of this phone and get it running lean like I'm used to. I have it set up nearly identical to how my EVO was (even have sense replaced by ADW).
