The Official Blackberry Convert Thread

I had a storm1 originally and loved it. That was most likely due to the fact that there weren't many other smartphones on verizon at the time. Then once the storm2 was released i quickly switched and loved my phone even more. I was an avid surepress fan and was eager to see the storm series continue especially with os6. What drove me to the Droid X was rims latest release of the sub par torch. When they released a "new" phone with dated technology i lost faith that rim wanted to compete in the consumer market. I also have no use for a buisness phone so i decided to give android a try and i don't regret my decison at all. I love my droid x

Leaving the BlackBerry life, selling off my Tour & Curve is going to be easy. I think it is BS that RIM's BlackBerry OS has never differed.

OS 4.0- the basic building blocks.
OS 4.5- a good upgrade from 4.0, bringing new features.
OS 4.6-4.7- a minor upgrade from 4.5, some new devices/features.
OS 5.0- not as cool as you'd think, STILL THE SAME DAMN PHONE. It looks just like freaking OS 4.5 if you ask me.

OS 6.0- not even supporting most of the devices.

Can't wait to say "buh-bye" to my Tour & hello Droid X.

yep same ole same ole , just like summer reruns :p, glad I DIDNT get the 9650

Went from the Storm 1 (got it on release day) and after all the leaked updates it was a really good phone for me. However, after going to the Droid X I'll never go back to Blackberry...they're just WAAAAY too far behind the times.

I will give BB the nod for a couple things...integrated universal inbox for messages was fantastic and a bit of a pain on the Droid (one gmail box and another icon for exchange email/SMS/MMS). The other thing I miss is the ability to assign notification sounds to individuals (like a separate notification tone when I receive an email from somebody...the Droid only allows a "universal" notification.

But other than those two things the Droid X blows BB out of the water...very happy I made the switch.

Would Love to Hear Thoughts on Pocketability of DX vs BBs

Hi...so my biggest fear of switching I think is going from a relatively pocketable device(Bold 9650) to a large all touch screen device..would love to hear experiences...like do you find you always have to put it on table and not keep in pocket...do you worry about the glass breaking, etc...thanks

I keep mine in holster clipped to my belt or my waist band. Pockets are for lint, keys and spare ammo.

Leaving my Tour behind to get a Droid X here in two weeks or so. Tour was my first ever smartphone and it was okay...until I started looking into Android.

I'm excited to say the least. Didn't use BBM or any of that, but I am excited about using a nonclunky browser for internet.

I'm running the xScope browser on mine right now and it's just about as fast as using my pc. It makes a bb seem like rubbing 2 sticks together to start a fire when there are matches and lighters lying all around.

I came from a Tour and have never looked back! I keep my X in my pocket (with an Invisible Shield screen protector) and I've had zero problems. I'm just not a fan of the belt clip holster.

What a nice present waiting for me when I got home....FedEx came!
For all my fellow Storm1 converts waiting on their phone....you will love it (although I am completely overwhelmed right now).

Question for anyone if you can help.....#@$*)#@(*$ Twitter added everyone I am following to my contacts....how can I erase all my contacts in one swoop on the phone?

Thanks!

What was the estimated ship date when you ordered it?

Ordered on 9th, est of around 25th. Charlotte NC, ordered early upgrade offer from verizon thru marketing dept.
Almost had to chew out fedex...they didnt think my address was real and flagged the delivery as an error....good thing i checked at 8am this morning and called asap or i would be sitting w/o a droid.

Now I dont want to go to work tomorrow to play with my droid all day! hmmm cough cough....i'm getting sick ;)

I love my blackberry. I just cant stand RIM. To have a phone s2 that is rendered obsolete in under a year is inexcusable. To come out with the savior of the franchise in os6 and the torch, to subpar reviews doesnt make me feel good. Ordered a DX and am really nervous. I am going to miss bbm and that is what has kept me with bb. not only the group chat, but the list and task functions as well.

just ordered mine today. shipping sometime by the 7th. I cannot wait to get rid of my POS Storm 1. all I need now is for otterbox to come out with their case and ill be alllll set

I also loved the integrated messnging. Tip: Use K9 mail client to connect gmail and other accounts. Then turn off mail sync in settings-> accounts. K9 has an integrated inbox. I don't like the gmail client anyway as the threading is very cool but it leaves the action buttons scattered throughout the email instead if in the menus where they belong. From your desktop this is useable but not on the little screen.

Now if i could just get SMS in their we'd be golden.

Hi, my name is Mr_4by and I'm a BBoholic.

I have had my X for 3 days and am more than ready for a contest on why I hate RIM. Just think of the HD video I can shoot now on the death of a S1...

The only thing I am going to miss is the time it takes to get email. All my past BBs got their mail almost instantly even Hotmail. The X takes 15 minutes?!! Oh well, I'll get over it because this new device has this great feature the Storm was missing, "A touchscreen that actually works."

I am also missing a good memo editing tool, any suggestions?

Hi All,
I have been a BB user for 3 yrs (Former Tour/8530 user) I just got my EVO 09/03/10. Boy what a difference in speed coming from my 8530. The only thing I miss is my push email from work. I have tried to configure it but I am unable to at this point. I have no regrets switching to Android at all, I am so glad that I waited for more EVO's to arrive.:)
