Mod Note - Thread reopened. Let's chill on some of the posts. Had to clean some for going overboard.

coming from a 2XL I'm making the jump to the 4. My battery isn't what it used to be. hopefully the phone is good, if not I'll sell/return it.

Do you have Accubattery installed?

If yes what does it estimate your battery health percentage to be?

Well, they can be helpful to potential buyers. Folks on the fence can benefit from threads talking about "<xyz phone> can do this, that's really cool that that's why I'm buying it!", because maybe they never thought of that feature/use.

Similarly, folks might benefit from realizing the shortcomings of <xyz phone> if the limitations/issues are spelled out in threads like this. Depending on how the thread is done, listing potential issues/limitations is very helpful to potential buyers.

I find it easy to see the value in threads like this - if - they are done right and not just "<xyz phone> SUCKS!" type posts. Meticulously listing pros and cons helps everyone. Only listing pros helps no one ..

If I were to note that The new Google Assistant can't be used with the 3 button setup, would that not be useful to potential buyers, even though it's "negative"?

I agree with this. I think there is great value for some users in what you're describing above. That type of dialogue.

If you're going to buy a product on Amazon that you've never purchased, don't you click on the user reviews?

User reviews are more than just a 5-star rating system. You can read the review, which contains the buyers real-life experience and use for the product, as well as pictures. It's more of "hey, this product works, but you might want to watch out for A, B, and D if you plan to use it this way."

We all have different reasons for buying or not buying something, choosing not to purchase the next model, and stating our expectations. I've been on these boards for years and always found useful information and perspectives on Android devices. The mods do a fantastic job of keeping things in check and making sure discussions remain in bounds. Wherever we go, there will be good and bad, useful and not useful. It's up to the individual to decide what they want to accept or ignore.

Well I've actually had forum members tell me that they purchased certain devices or accessories because of my feedback or even a product review.
If you don't like certain threads, it's easy enough just to avoid them.

I generally do ... I don't surf AC forums looking for things. Others do that. I pretty much spend my time in the Pixels section and in General from time to time. I probably skip 98% of what gets posted.

I never installed accubattery on my 2XL, however I have the same usage patterns, and I'm no longer getting the same SoT/usage out of it. I used to get 5-6 hrs of SoT. Now I'm lucky of I get to 4.5 hrs. It's expected though, the battery is 2 years old. If it wasn't a pain in @ss to change the battery I would change it and keep this phone another year.

For those who are dismayed at losing the unlimited Google photo backup, there's always Amazon photos. If you're a prime member you get unlimited. I made the switch about a year ago and haven't looked back. Doesn't matter what phone you have either.

What? Never heard of this sorcery. Tell me more.

It's not sorcery lol It's one of the many prime benefits.
Just install it and use their backup feature.
I've also ditched Google play music for Amazon's too. You can get most songs for free, and you actually have the music file unlike with Google play where they encrypt it so you can't find the file.

Wasnt that another reason for buying the pixel that don't have a SD card.
When I was asking, why don't the google pixel have a SD card.
Got any idea how many pictures you could store on a 32gb sd card or bigger.

Seems we was talking about this last yr.
And everybody was saying google had unlimited storage.
I said. Wait till they want money for unlimited storage.
Now here we are.

Is it really that much of a pain to change?

I mean I know you'll probably be saying goodbye to the water resistance but I'd say it's worth a shot if you were gonna replace it anyways.

Also, the real capacity on that 2 XL by now could be between 3000-3200mAh or so, which is still higher than the 4.

I was a prime member.

Cancelled my credit card.
I do not use the services enough to pay for it.

A SD card will last for years.
I don't read. I don't stream music. Except Sirius

Faster? Faster than what?

My 3XL lives in my left front pocket, earpiece down and screen against my body. When I need it, I reach into my pocket and before the phone is more than two or three inches above my belt, my index finger has found the FPS and unlocked the phone - long before it has come into view.

It doesn't get any faster than that.

Try that with the Note 10+.

It seems with all new phone releases that people feel the need to complain about some feature of the phone without even trying it out first and it’s irritating.
