I called my local Corp store to see if I could get them to hold one for me. The response was "no we don't hold phones and it isn't coming out on Friday because we always hear about new phones weeks in advance and we haven't heard anything.".

I badly want to see this phone come out on Friday now, just so I can go in and mock her. ;-)

I know this is being discussed, but I couldn't find the right thread. Admin, If you want to merge this, thats fine.

I called my local store and asked about the nexus. He said they have them in store and he said friday is definitely the date. He then made an appointment for me, so i assume that means hes saving one for me..

So call your local store, you hear what you have been waiting to hear for a month!!

I called three local stores......each time said "I was wondering if I will be able to buy a Nexus on Thursday or if I will need to wait until Friday". Each time they put me on hold, came back and said we haven't been given an exact date yet....I would keep checking the website.

he made an appointment with you because he wants your sale. any verizon rep at a store is going to give you his/her number or get your number to ensure this. you don't need an appointment. just walk in and get the phone from whoever is available. unless of course you actually prefer this random verizon rep who initially helped you.

anywho, i'm glad the verizon employee you spoke to confirmed the stock availability and release for this friday.

The sales rep said they have NO Galaxy Nexus phones in the store as of now.

Well, they didn't deny having plans to stock the phone in the near future (or today for that matter).

I have a hunch that my hometown's corporate store will have enough in stock that I won't have to worry. Either way I'm gonna give them a call later today to see if I can make sure one gets set aside for me for when I manage to get there Friday evening

just called the store by my house in Westchester County, again NO galaxy nexus phones in store,,, at least that is what they are saying....

both stores by my office and house are large corporate stores....

guess i might go the best buy across the street from my office 30 seconds from the verizon wireless store

That was the case with the Thunderbolt launch too. They had them on launch day, dont worry.

Stores CSR's seem to be all over the place with release info. I called my business rep to talk to him about it but he is out on leave and the guy I talked to said he had no information. So, I called a corporate store that is closer to me (I travel farther because my rep has always taken good care of me) and the rep there told me that it would be released on Friday.

There is another store even closer to me than either of the two above but, from experience, they have the most uninformed and useless CSR's that I have ever seen. A friend of mine who is responsible for the phones for his company (about 35 cell lines) went there when they switched to Verizon and he left. He told me that the reps there were so dumb that he had no confidence in them. He ended up taking their service to the same store that I use and received the same type of service that I have been accustomed to. A LOT of reps just show up for work, don't give a damn about keeping informed about their own products and just hang around long enough and try to look busy enough to get a paycheck handed to them. And then, there are the reps who care, who know their product and make a conscientious effort to properly service their customers.

Called my local store (little town, 10k people, in central Ohio) said they got 20 in stock but don't have a release date yet. He thinks the.10th. But I can buy accessories now!

My local guy said that they do have them in stock, that yes they where expecting a shortage, and no they would not hold one for me or put me on any list.

Interesting the difference in service. Probably because I'm white.

the reps at the store on 86th between 3rd and lex have been utterly useless... which baffles me, considering the sheer number of verizon stores in manhattan. you'd think they'd want the commission and be real loose on the lips.

I checked the 34th store on Sunday and one of the reps said that they were waiting for the galaxy nexus as well but had no information.
