The Officially Official Verizon Rep "Source" Thread

Re: Call your local store...

My local guy said that they do have them in stock, that yes they where expecting a shortage, and no they would not hold one for me or put me on any list.

Interesting the difference in service. Probably because I'm white.

I don't get the shortage thing, unless they are getting very limited stock. Besides the Android community, no one knows/cares about this device.

Re: Call your local store...

the reps at the store on 86th between 3rd and lex have been utterly useless... which baffles me, considering the sheer number of verizon stores in manhattan. you'd think they'd want the commission and be real loose on the lips.

just called them,,, my office is close by... and apparently no phones.

and you are so correct,,, not a role model store.

let me know if you get different info.

i plan on stopping there after work.

Re: Call your local store...

Called my local store (little town, 10k people, in central Ohio) said they got 20 in stock but don't have a release date yet. He thinks the.10th. But I can buy accessories now!

Are you any where near Lancaster or Logan?

Re: Call your local store...

I checked the 34th store on Sunday and one of the reps said that they were waiting for the galaxy nexus as well but had no information.
Thanks. Using a GNex on AT&T right now and can't wait to get off this crappy service.

The real question for me is 8th or 9th... will be annoying to make that trip and come home empty handed on the 8th.

Sure seems that way. I have talked to some of my techie friends about it (some of which have android devices - btw) and they had no clue whatsoever about this phone. I think the 100 or so crazy people who post in this forum are the only ones who know about this release...lol

Re: Call your local store...

All I can get is reps taking my name and number, and saying they have no release date. Why the hold up with an announcement at this point? Do they want to make sure all the stock reaches the stores first?

I should scratch that question because it will start the same arguments we have been having for the last month. :(

This is where the non-corporate stores tend to be most helpful. There's one on the ground floor of my apt building... going to bug them tomorrow. They seem motivated at least.

I beg to differ. From my personal experience ALOT of people I wouldnt think would know about this device actually do. I would say most of the people that use android, actually know of this phones existence. For example: My mom (bless her heart) knows about this phone. I went to her house a few weeks ago and told her I was waiting for the Galaxy Nexus and she is like, "Oh the phone that unlocks when you put your face to it?" I sat there dumbfounded and said yea. I asked how she knew about it and she said the news.

So from my personal exp, I think more people know about this device than we at the android community are giving credit too..

I thought so too, but then the rep in my corporate store in Alabama said he gets about 50 calls a day about the Nexus. I am sure it is not fifty, but still! In Alabama! No one lives here!

Re: Call your local store...

i just called 3 stores in the Lexington KY area and not a single one had a clue what I was talking about.

I have always found that store and the one on 57th to be not as helpful as other stores in the area.

I really wish that were the truth as then I wouldn't have any issues getting the phone, however I know better. I thought nobody knew about the Thunderbolt, but again I was like the 5th person in line before the store even opened on launch day.

Called one of my local stores this morning...

Same canned 'we have no release date at this time' speech.

The one on madison by GCT is a good one in my book.

Re: Call your local store...

I visited the store in Central Park in Fredericksburg, VA (yes, the shopping conglomerate is called Central Park) last night. Their answer was "Well we had a release date but then it got leaked so they pushed it back again. But at least they're letting us talk about the phone now." Whatever that means...

Anecdotally, I asked about when 4G would be available in our area they said they had "tested" it in the area the prior weekend so it should be turned on soon. Then I talked with some folks here at work that said that when the 4G was tested, they actually turned off the 3G for that timeframe, thereby cutting data service to probably most Verizon customers during the test. Funny....:)

Re: Call your local store...

Holy cow!!! Small world. That's the store I called!

Marysville is bigger than 10,000 people, it's more like 20,000. It was like 15,000+ during the 2000 census and the 2005 estimate was at like 17,850, but anywho... back to the topic at hand.
