160 of them? That seems outrageous when some other stores are lucky to have one. The longer this goes on the more I think stock is the reason for delay. When you have some stores saying five, some saying one, some saying 12, and one saying 160, just doesn't sound like logistics is where Verizon/Samsung are good at.

He did say that their particular store might only get 15 or 20 of the total 160 distributed from the "main branch" stock.

I dont believe it would be the stock, Verizon is just trying to get as much as they can out of there devices. I will guarantee Google will never come back to Verizon again with a Launch. All the excuses, people having them in stores, some getting lucky and buying them. It's beyond stupid now. Release the dang phone.

Wouldn't that be funny, if all of this was simply a case of underestimated demand, and not enough stock being ordered for the stores?

The Droid desktop dock didn't come out until a month or two after the phone was released. The release wouldn't be held up because of accessories. People are just grasping at straws.

Back on topic - I'm not sure it's being held up due to a lack of devices since most stores have received units last week. I just hope we can have this week.

I'd actually be interested to know what the sales figures are on the amount of lost sales for Samsung each and every day this thing isn't released before Christmas. I'm sure it is a lot.

I dont buy it when most stores say they dont have any or just have one. I think 160 sounds a Tad high, how could they expect to sell so many in one store. But I think most are just saying they dont have them yet to keep us from being pests or tryint to bribe people.

Don't be confused Samsung already made it's money when Verizon ordered. They don't really care what happens at this point. The only person with a lot of risk in this three way party is Verizon.

Would be an interesting stat. I mentioned in another thread that there has to be a point where the lost sales hurts more income-wise than releasing the phone with possibly minor bugs. I also feel like we've passed that point already.

Not 160 in a single store. See my earlier post. It was the main branch's stock in my area (Richmond, VA) which I guess distributes to the smaller branch stores.

I as most people thought that most stores had them in stock last week, but I believe that assumption to be incorrect. I have called many, many stores last week. Corporate stores, Best Buys, Radio Shacks, and other indirect dealers all mentioned they thought they would be selling it soon but they didn't have any in stock yet, only a few had a demo device as of last Friday. I live in Indiana, and I called a lot of stores in North Central Indiana. I did not call any stores from the Indy area. Stock might have hit a lot of places, but maybe not as many as previously thought.

I was thinking about this the other day. I know Verizon sells phones at a loss, and I was thinking that it must be a big loss overall every time a phone is released. (Made up over time of course). With all the phones being released recently, that's a whole lot of loss in a short time period. Maybe they want to push new phones to the next quarter or something to even it out a bit more. Do we actually now when Samsung gets paid? They could get a piece of action when the phone is actually sold instead of a large upfront sale to Verizon. Sorry...my tin-foil hat is a little tight this morning.

they care... it's their product, and one they put a lot of work into. a successful galaxy nexus will only help samsung's bottom line, both for this release and future releases.
