We'll see how it pans out but I don't think Verizon will be throttling the updates that Google pushes out to the Nexus. Unless it's an issue w/ VzW LTE network or a VzW related app. I don't see it happening.

I think ovp777777 got part of it wrong. I already exchanged my 4th Bionic with a brand new RAZR since it came out before Rezound. Today, I actually spend about 30 minutes of my life at a local VZW store to play with a Rezound. I walked out of the store with thanking myself for making a good decision of getting a RAZR in lieu of a Rezound. The only thing I "kind of" like about was the display. Everything else was just plain inferior to RAZR.
The most logical reason for not releasing the phone is that with the marketing campaign of the Razr, they much push the launch.
Perhaps they need to sell 10 million iPhones in addition to the 5 million RAZRs.

I was looking at the Google Trends information for the Droid RAZR vs. Galaxy Nexus. Predictably the GN has receive more news coverage but the RAZR is getting more search queries thanks to the marketing. However, after November 14th the Galaxy Nexus is getting more search queries in the United States.
If the RAZR really is struggling to sell the marketing certainly isn't helping. The Galaxy Nexus is basically vaporware right now and more people are searching for information about it than the RAZR.
I guess Verizon's only strategy is to starve the beast and hope people give up the wait.
The HTC Rezound is almost forgotten. Perhaps that will change now that they're running commercials.

I tend to agree about the 'official' updates but being the hardware is almost the same, porting the updates will not be difficult at all. Its not like the actual hardware incompatibilities that other ICS ports face.
Pete's Bugless Beast builds are still supporting the OG Droid to 2.3.7 well beyond the 2.2.3 build Verizon pushed. I don't forsee an issue
VZW still thinks they are selling Motorola V710s to customers in 1998. for some reason, they cant wrap their head around the fact that their customers are tech savvy, tech hungry, ravenous data consuming, sophisticated people that are well informed and have access to the internet to get information about a release they might not want us to have. Well VZW..................ITS 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I am going to disagree with you, most Verizon customers are not tech savvy. They just get what the representative recommends without even looking into what they are buying.

Agree, only the 1% of on sites like these are the main ones people would call tech savvy.
just because they dont know what phone to buy, doesnt make them not tch savvy!!! that makes them uninformed consumers. they are selling smartphones 10 to 1. the people who are buying these smartphones are downloading apps to connect them to the info that makes them tick. they are connected to friends and family via social networking on their phones. they are uploading videos and photos to +1 and facebook.
THAT IS TECH SAVVY!!!
my mom has made such a dramatic turn around in the last year and a half! she is 60!!!! she is now checking all of her children (my siblings) to get updates on her grand children. shes stays connected on facebook to her friends from birmingham. she checks her favorite restaurants and entertainment venues latest updates on twitter.
SHE IS TECH SAVVY!
the first time she went to jump into the smartphone world, she didnt tell me or anyone, she went to ATT and asked them what to get. she had no idea about any of the features, OSs, specs or anything. that didnt stop her from becoming tech savvy.

Just because your mom checks status update via Facebook on a smartphone doesn't mean she's tech savvy. It means she's a typical end user. Just like the majority of everyone else out there.
If sooo many people are tech savvy then why is the iPhone so popular? You know why? Yes, its a cliche, but like they say, "It Just Works". The majority of iPhone customers want to take it home, turn it on, and have fun with it. The majority of users have no clue about terms like iOS, 3G, 4G, LTE, CDMA, USB Host, etc, etc, etc. They are END users who think its really really neat to be able pull a gadget out of their pocket that takes pics & vids of the kids, oh yeah, it's also a phone, and can, yes, interact with Facebook and the like.... Just like your mom. And you know what? There is NOTHING wrong with that. All it does is make it better for all of us. Trust me when I tell you, I sure enjoy when things "just work" on Android just the same.
In my experience, most people I come across are the opposite of tech savvy. Just take HDTV's for example. Most consumers couldn't tell you the difference between HDMI and HD. They have no clue what "Aspect Ratio" is, or even that there are HD and SD cable boxes out there. Have you ever looked around your environment and noticed how many HDTV;s are out there being fed by SD signals and have those streeeetched out pictures, or maybe you've seen the black bars? Its true, believe me, most people are NOT tech savvy at all and in general have no clue, nor do they care. They want to press the power button and enjoy their investment. Nothing more.

exactly! the typical end user is tech savvy! now maybe i should have clarified, i am speaking directly in reference to phones, so maybe a better term is, phone tech savvy. someone can be savvy with a phone and not no HDMI from component video.
in my opinion, to say these iphone and android users are not "phone tech savvy" is laughable. 5 years ago this was all a dream, now grandma and grandpa are tweeting their grandkids!

I'm not sure how it is for you guys. But, I know that when I go into the Verizon stores to make my purchases, there are at least a few times in my conversations with the rep that is working with me where they will make one of those comments, that goes something like, really? Or, I didn't know that.
Just my not so humble opinion, Verizon reps make money off of the phones they sell. All they know about the phones they are selling is what VZW tells them. So unless the rep is a big Android fan and is active in boards like these, they are really not going to be as informed as some of their customers are.
Just wanted to throw it out there that the cause for the delay is still a HUGE assumption. We have all been hearing about the many ICS bugs present in the European version of the phone, maybe Verizon told Google to fix those bugs instead. The fact is that Verizon hasn't said anything official about the cause for the "delay", which isn't official either. For all we know 2 or 3 random forumers just made this assumption a month ago (I made that assumption a while ago) and it's escalated into a large rumor.
