The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a random reboot problem and nobody knows why.

Seems like a software issue. That being said I havnt had any reboots. But I also don't have a SD card installed.

This seems like a bigger problem than what it really is because the s8 sales numbers are way ahead of their competition. So Samsung is being looked at from a bigger microscope. The more phones a manufacturer has in the wild, the more problems will surface. If you look at this as a per capita, then the media is blowing this out of proportion.

What I'm basically saying is this - Every phone has growing pains early in it's life. The pixel, every single iPhone, HTC phones. You name it.

Every phone out there, sooner or later, will result in a reboot. That's just how phones are. None will be perfect by any stretch.

Like usual, Samsung will be sending out a software update to fix the issue. No need to compare this to the note7 debacle in any way, shape or form.

If folks are within their 14 day return period, I'm not sure why they're sitting around discussing it in a forum. Return it ASAP and get a replacement or a different phone.

I've done that once already.... I'm on the second phone... still doing it. I'm returning it today after work for a refund. I have contacted Samsung, and also went to a best buy store with the Samsung kiosk, they scanned and couldn't find anything wrong so re flashed it, only for it to happen again.

The only place I have seen this is on a few phone / tech websites including Samsung. Can you include links to mainstream media that is blowing it out of proportion

U know, when I thought about it. The last time my phone did this was right after tmobile sent out that update on day 2. It obviously restarted normally after the update, but then did the solo reboot on its own one last time. Hasn't happened since.

Get a Google plus account and follow all the tech sites. They report on every little thing a few times a day. Especially pocketnow.

My phone has been rebooting a few times per day recently. I have the 256gb card installed and I wonder if there is an issue with having not formatted it after using it with the note 7. It's starting to be a pain in the ***.

I don't know if I would call pocketnow main stream media. I have not seen it on any of the major media outlets

Mine started the random reboots for the first time after day 8. It is also the first day I inserted a SD card. After 2 or 3 random reboots, I removed the card. It has rebooted twice in the last 2 days with the card removed. What's going on here? I'm going to factory reset . If it does it again, I'm returning.

We need a sticky thread so we can see if some common thing causing it. I have a Verizon black 8+ with 256gb card from Samsung, with 300 apps installed and only 10GB free. No reboots or shut downs and have had it since launch day.

Using stock UI.

Well i returned mine to Best Buy yesterday for a exchange and that was brutal for a hour and a half i was there till they could figure out how to do it. Finally left with a new 1 as i returned mine die to 2 lock ups and 1 time it froze and had to hold power button and volume button till it rebooted. just a hour ago while on charger it rebooted and i have not even put a SD card in it yet. I think i am going to put my 256G card in it and see what happens. But i do not plan on another 90 minute trip to Best Buy unless it does it again a few times.

I did factory reset a couple of times. ATT swapped it out for me, the Samsung kiosk at best buy did a scan and re flashed it on my second phone and it still was doing it. I returned it lastnight and went back to my Note 4 for now.

3 reboots (since Launch). All 3 while in car (Subaru) with Bluetooth on (dual-device BT at least 2 of those times).
