The simple things your Nexus 6P just can't do right? or at all?

I haven't red through this entire thread, bit mu biggest gripe is the screen. I really miss the screen on my G2. Heaven forbid I forget to turn on Adaptive Brightness before I go outside because it is near impossible to see to adjust otherwise. I don't leave AB on because it flickers and changes erratically. Even ALL the way up, this thing is hard to see in the sun. I went hiking and tried to take a few photos...I had to just hope they turned out okay on auto since I couldn't really tell what was going on.

The other thing, it won't sync on Spotify like my other devices will so I can't remotely play to my computer and speakers. Not sure what that is about. I tried Google Play Music and it doesn't seem to sync that way at all which is a bummer. I miss that feature.

That said, I love this phone.

Lack of adaptive display is a pain, but I have no problems syncing with either Spotify or Google Music. Not sure what's up there, but you may want to go to manage devices and make sure you're not over your maximum number of devices for each service. I was on Spotify, and switched back to Google Music, because Spotify limited the total number of songs I can download to 3500, I've tried both.

Well, then, why not recognize that as a failure of the Nexus 7 and a positive quality of the 6P, instead of the other way around?

When your device is horizontal with a speaker on the left and another on the right, wouldn't you prefer that the left channel sound comes from the left-most speaker and the right channel sound comes from the right-most speaker? That is what the 6P does, regardless of actual orientation.

If your Nexus 7 doesn't do that, then shame on it. (I have a Nexus 7 2013; will have to dig it out and test it myself)

This is after all a thread about the 6P, not about the Nexus 7...

For the record, I've switched to the S7 Edge as my primary device after taking advantage of T-Mobile's BOGO offer. As much as I love the S7 Edge, when I go back to the Nexus 6P, I am always amazed at just how smooth it is, how quick compared to a generation newer phone despite 1GB less RAM.

This whole thread is about things missing in the 6P, but damn, it is a truly sweet device, and for the money, its beyond incredible.

Understood.

But, the previous poster seemed to be implying that the 6P should handle rotation the way the N7 does and I was trying to make the point that, if anything, it is the N7 which needs to be fixed, not the 6P.

My post was actually agreeing with you. Sorry if it came out differently.

It doesn't - that's my point. (from what I can tell)

Can't understand why it's happening on one device with stereo speakers (6P) and not another (Nexus 7)
The N7 isn't providing correct sound orientation when rotated. If you rotate 180 or 270 degrees, you're getting sound backwards. More modern devices correct that error, but it means adjusting to the new orientation when the device is rotated.

Gotcha! I appreciate you taking the time to explain.

Now that I know that, I guess my take is this: The idea that I can tell left from right on such a small device with speakers so close seems kind of ridiculous. My preference would be to let the sound play "backwards" and not have an audible pause.

Not implying anything, I was simply responding to an earlier question asking "what stereo devices don't do that?".

MY original post/point was about MY preference. I never claimed that was the "right" way.

Again, I didn't do anything but answer the question posed to me.

How exactly could I have answered a question about "what other devices" without garnering your "this is a 6P thread" response? That's an honest question.

The thread asked what I wish my 6P could do. I wish it wouldn't pause audio when rotating, which is perfectly on topic. I didn't claim it was the "right way", just what I want. Everything else was added by others...

You're right johnofamerica. Sorry about that comment. It was out of context, and had I read the thread more carefully, I would have understood your response better, and not jumped to my unnecessarily snarky response. My apologies.

No problem at all man. Appreciate you taking the time to consider that, and then circling back around to leave a response.

You didn't have to put that effort in, but the fact you did means you're cooler than 99.5% of the internet. Have a great day!

Staying with the edge or going back to the 6P? These two phones are currently on my list for getting rid of my iPhone. I'm also really interested in seeing the M10 or whatever it will be called.

I sold my Nexus 6P and am staying on the Edge. I may live to regret that later, but for now, overall I love both, but prefer the Edge if I have to keep one. Keep in mind that my Edge is on T-Mobile, and so far at least, they've been pretty good with the security updates.

I'm hoping AT&T gets with the program on the security updates. That's really my biggest issue with non-unlocked phones. I don't even care about the bloat as I just disable all the garbage I don't need.

Wildo6883, have you considered switching to T-Mobile? I was on AT&T for 10 years. I got tired of their taking so long to send out updates, and their rates were way higher than T-Mobiles. Every time I tried T-Mobile, I had network issues, so I gave up, until I heard about their new Band 12 LTE band which is very powerful, and supports Voice over LTE in areas that don't have good GSM coverage. So I tried it with my Nexus 6P, and it was amazing. Only 6 months earlier, I couldn't keep a call going between work and home (a 1 hour drive over about 25 miles around DC metro), and I had no signal once I got into my community in the suburbs. Now the signal was just as good as if not better than AT&T.

I switched out entire family plan - 4 phones. They're paying off all of the early termination fees, etc., our monthly bill is $100 lower, and with 2 of us traveling internationally often, we're saving a ton on that part. Plus of course they update a lot more frequently. So far, its been just over a month, and I'm thrilled I made the move.

I have looked into it a little, actually. They just now got LTE in my area. But I'm kind of in the backwoods of Southern Illinois, and the surrounding areas aren't the best with service. I would absolutely switch to it if they had better service in my area. There also aren't any stores here, so it would all be done online, which is kind of a pain. I'd definitely like to have a physical store just in case.

I also called them about discounts, as I get a 17% discount on AT&T through my job, and they had nothing for me. So it wasn't really even any cheaper than what I was paying to AT&T.

We are in the exact same boat... Except we are in OH. We get a discount through employer which makes AT&T hard to beat, price wise. I'd love to be able to switch but at this time, it isn't financially worth it.

The problem with a S7 or anyother T-mo phone is that they will not support it after the first year or so.

I have a G3 (tmo's premier phone at the time), and they stopped sending updates after 16 month's.

This is the second time it has happened with T-mo. . The first time they stopped updates in less than 12 months.

My next phone will only be a nexus, the only question is do I pull the trigger now, or waot for the Nexus 7

That is true. For me, I but new phones frequently, so this isn't an issue, but I'm a gadget nut. I wouldn't wait for the Nexus 7 in your shoes. The 6P is awesome. It should still be great for a few years much like the Nexus 5 was (in my humble opinion).

Yeah, I'm paying $128+tax for 3 lines and 20gb of data plus rollover. We do have two phones on Next so the bill is up to $190 after taxes. But we never go over, usually hover between 22-28gb per month. And have coverage everywhere. It's tough to pass up.
