The V30 rumoured battery: Disappointment or a non issue?

The S7 is really one of the ugliest flagship phones around. Terrible edge display, physical buttons, glass back, etc. It looks gaudy and classless. The S8 fixed the buttons issue almost entirely, but still has the rest of the issues. I sincerely hope this glass body nonsense is over soon.

I'm not judge of phone looks. The G5 reminded me of Kate Upton.

I think its a mistake to draw tight boundaries. A high end phone should appeal and draw consumers from multiple sources. If I were designing a phone I would want every to want it even if they had to raid their child's piggy banks.
That's what the G6 is for. I could argue that the Note was designed for a niche group and to showcase features but became wildy popular amongst people who liked the bigger screen...which led to the S6E, S7E an S8+. Remember, it's the S line that's the movers and shakers for Samsung in the high end space.

That's my point... It's ok to appeal outside of the target audience.

I don't see a removable battery as a high end feature though I like my phone with one. There was a time when all phones had a removable battery.

I'm sorry, I was done, but that simply is not true. That much is not a matter of opinion. There was a time when a high end phone was a defined as an iPhone, without removable batteries. They did not all have removable batteries. Samsung, in particular, made a big deal of distinguishing itself from that and tried to appeal to consumers about its glitzy, special feature. Call it high end or not high end--semantics. But something special seemed to be going on: https://www.macrumors.com/2014/07/03/samsung-bashes-iphone-in-new-ad/

Now, you can think of it as important, worthless or in between, but there was certainly a time when Samsung thought it was a big deal and geeks thought it was real important, too: https://betanews.com/2015/08/18/thi...hout-removable-batteries-are-a-terrible-idea/

The rest is semantics and you're certainly entitled to your interpretation.

I personally view removable battery as a low-end feature by an OEM that lacks confidence in its ability to deliver great performance and all day battery life without a crutch. Obviously not a popular view in the forums, but I do feel confident that the OEMs agree with me that they can deliver better devices by sealing the battery than they can otherwise.

I'm just saying it was never really a feature exclusive to high end phones. Its not that complicated.

Maybe so but some of them gimp the battery beyond belief. Look at the less than lukewarm reception the Droid Z2 Force has received.

Unless the battery specs look abnormal (really high or low), have to wait to see some reviews and user reports after time with the device. Same thing with the camera too...implementation more important than the potential for me (unless you plan on developing for the device).

Sure but I haven't seen anything indicating that it has poor battery life.

It could be decent but I think most people that were waiting for it seem very disappointed in the threads and the blogs. Just can't figure out why they thinned out Z2 when the Z was already pretty thin.

I agree with you and them, but also prioritize life over mAh

I mean, the Z2 Force has decent battery life from what I have read so far, but just imagine if it had the same 3500 mAh battery as last year's Z Force compared to the 2730 mAh it has? The thing would be a battery life beast.

Many people would be fine with the battery capacity if Moto wasn't making a blatant play to sell Moto mods.

Exactly, that's what I think, that the only reason they made it small was to sell the Moto mods.
And at that price? D.O.A. It'll be like last year's Z come next year...good calue for money on the cheap. Shame really, as I like the in hand feel...

Yes, I think the phone looks nice and all, but the quirks to the camera and battery ruin it for me.

I'm an old Moto X (2013, 2014) and Moto Maxx (Droid Turbo global) user. I'll never touch them again because of how ****ty they are with updates. I'd take Samsung over them at this point with regards to updates, honestly.

Yes, I used to use the Moto Maxx, Droid Ultra, and the Moto X as well. Updates were horrid for me as well.

Did you get screwed by them when they promised an update a couple of years ago. I did on the Droid Maxx. They offered a hundred bucks towards an upgrade...... No thanks.
