The waiting for the Charge thread

When HTC got away from AMOLED I was done with them.

I can never go back to anything LCD after having the rich beautiful colors and deep blacks of AMOLED.


I can't wait for this new Sammy to be released, I'm very anxious to get my hands on one !!!

I wonder if the lack of interest in the forums over the Charge release might not just be the lack of advertising (a huge factor, of course) and the distaste for Samsung (I'm worried about updates also).

Maybe it's simply because of the forum section title. It only references a generic 4g LTE device, and the description doesn't have the names Stealth or Charge.

Is there a moderator that would be willing to consider updating that info for the Charge forum section? May not help much, but it can't hurt.

At CES, one of the demonstrators said the phone will come with 8gig internal and a 32gig installed card. If that still holds, then $300 is not completely outrageous. Especially if the screen looks great next to a Thunderbolt.

But having said that, I'd still be surprised if $300 is the real price charged after any discounts and contracts. I'd be surprised if people are going to want to pay that much for a phone. (At least not until everyone is also using their phone as a computer with a tablet/laptop/desktop dock of some sort. I'm hoping that day comes soon.)

I really only stumbled upon the charge myself once I found out 1 year contracts were going away. I think its a combination of No advertising, bad reputation for updates among those who are tech junkies (Lets just hope someone figures out how to root) and I also think the lack of a name and changing of names has something to do with it. When searching for info you have to look up Samsung LTE 4g Smartphone, Stealth, Stealth V, SCH-i510 and Charge. I know most phones have dev names at first but this one has been very confusing especially with no name at CES. Even on this forum it took me forever to realize that Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone was the thread for the Charge. Its hard to build buzz on something when it keeps changing like that. Plus the design is controversial, looks plasticy, some people do not like physical buttons. I don't really care about that, its going to be in a case anyway I just want the beautiful screen.
If it does not come out this week though I will have to go with TB, I have to do a one year so my wifes plan and mine are synced back up plus I think we will see a lot of improvements in tech in the next year.

I read a user comment on a different forum stating they were in a verizon confernece yesterday and the phone was present. the rep said it will be released april 21 or 28. Verizon needs to make an announcement already on this phone.

I hope this doesn't turn into a TB debacle. Those guys were in agony waiting for that thing. I didn't want a TB so I didn't give a rip, but this is turning evil.

Did anyone look at the specs listed at those links? It's gotta be based on another phone, and the details are yet to be updated. Another sign it's not releasing this week. Looks like we're a week or two away.

• The screen size is 4.0" (isn't it supposed to be 4.3")?
• 2.5mm plug (surely this has got to be wrong)
• FM Radio (I had heard a rumor, and am hopeful)
• 5.0 megapixel camera (wasn't it supposed to be 8?)
• DivX support (wow)
• Processor is 800MGz TI OMAP 3610 (I'm sure it's supposed to be faster)
• RAM 483MB (Clearly this is the specs from another older phone)
• It's listed as an international 2G phone
• S-GPS (i don't know what this is, but that doesn't mean much)
• BT - Stereo v3.0+EDR (What I REALLY want to know is if HID profile is supported for bluetooth keyboard and mouse, as well as A2DP profile for stereo music output for wireless bluetooth headphones.)

If it doesn't come out I will be getting TB Friday or Saturday and if the battery is just too much of an issue perhaps I will return and the Charge will be out by then. Although I am not really sure how an exchange would work with a phone that has no one year pricing available..... hmmmm

From the pics online, I thought this phone would be big, way bigger than my fascinate, with the bigger screen.
Just put the case I got next to my phone, and its just marginally bigger. A bit wider, but height is same.
Not bad at all.

I was just thinking of doing the same thing.
I hope they would just honor the one year contract and make you pay any difference in price....I'm hoping the $300 price is incorrect.
