Saw the selfie post this morning and wondered if anyone knew that you can take a picture of you cover sensor underneath the flash with your finger when the front facing camera is selected. A red light comes on and off you hold it it takes the picture. It means you don't have to fumble the phone trying to press the shutter. I never take selfies myself but noticed it when a friend was holding it mucking around with the snap chat like features.....

You can also do the same with the rear camera by holding up your hand to it. Same timer will begin and then automatically take the picture. The feature was also present on the Note 5 and S7 line :) Quite handy!

It's not really a secret.

It's a feature introduced with the Galaxy Note 4 where putting a finger on the heart-rate sensor would act as a shutter when taking self-portraits.

It's been a Galaxy feature since then. I tried it with the Note 7 at one point even though I don't take selfies as much.

I wouldn't call it a secret but it is a less known feature.

This is one of many useful features you can read about in the user manual. It's a helpful reference.

Well, that doesn't work for me, is there a setting for this?

Yup, you need to enable it in the camera's settings. Tap the gear icon when you open your camera, go to SHOOTING METHODS, and turn on TAP SCREEN. I usually keep this off as I prefer to focus on tap rather than take pictures, but that's why it's there, to suit different tastes.

Thanks for that!
