too bad you can't use that discount on anything in the "Droid" line. Although you might be able to use it to get a Fascinate or Continuum.

Just a FYI - I was having my car worked on yesterday so I decided to pop into the Verizon store nearby while I waited. Got to talking to a great rep there. They didn't have demo TBs yet nor have they received any training on it. She (like me) was using an old Blackberry and is just as frustrated as we are on how this is being handled because she wants one too. She hates the iPhone and said people are swamping them every day with inquiries about the TB.

She did tell me something I found interesting but have no idea if it's true. She said Best Buy could pay for the exclusive rights to sell one of their phones and that they've done it before. I didn't ask her which phone they had done that with though. She said they could go directly to the manufacturer and buy the rights to the phone and Verizon can't do anything about it.

We don't have 4G service in my area yet but she did say the towers are up and currently being tested so that was very good news for me. Now I just need that 4G phone to go with the service when it's rolled out here.

What? Best Buy couldn't do that....lol

BGR is good, but they are not the source for this rumor... and they even stated earlier that this was from 2 sources that have not been confirmed as reliable.

Sorry! I should have been clearer on this originally. She said Best Buy could get exclusive rights for a period of time and then Verizon would get the phone once that period of time elapsed.

There is NO WAY this happens. According to my Desk Calendar, Spring begins on the 20th, and the 21st is Benito Juarez' Birthday. They won't release with those events stealing the headlines...

It doesn't make good business sense for a handset provider to do that, but, anything is possible.

What is a "limited period of time"? a week? couple of days?

Best Buy HAS made a few phones available a few days before Verizon did. But it was just a few days ahead ... a week max.

I think we'll hear an announcement on Tuesday for a Thursday release. They don't need a full week to announce since the phone has already been reveled. Just a thought.

VZW just tweeted about the Fruit pad2. They sure didn't put much PR behind that launch. I haven't seens any commericial and only got 2 e-mails about it. I would have thought that they would have done more.
