I'll play... (again). The phone wasn't delayed because it was never announced.

By that logic, the phone is NOT coming out on Verizon because... it's never been announced.

Your logic is skewed ;) The phone has been announced, the release date has not.

@paulmike3: Like I said, I've got nothing on that as I had never seen or knew about that until you said something earlier. That was plain stupidity on Verizon's part as far as I'm concerned.

It has been announced thanks to the commercials that started airing on major TV networks the week of the 20th saying it was "coming soon to the lightning fast Verizon LTE network..." blah blah blah. The release date was the only thing never officially announced outside of the "FEBRERO" reference in an unaired, YouTube only, Spanish-speaking commercial. Chances are the marketing person behind uploading that video messed up; VZW never officially wanted that commercial out in the wild given how swiftly they made it private.

The device has been delayed, but a majority of the world doesn't know it. Us AC forum goers are only a small minority of the people who will be purchasing this device.

Anyway, the DROID -$100 discount only started Thursday or Wednesday last week, so they'll want to let that ride out for one to two weeks so they can kill their existing smartphone stock before offering the T-Bolt.

Here's my thought....by the time this phone comes out, VZW will have already tiered the data plans. the only release date that will be on target will be the release date for the tiered plans in mid-summer.

Isn't it weird that VZW hasn't put out a new phone this year yet???? The iphone yes but that really was a phone from last year that VZW finally got on their network. And the XOOM and the IPAD2. Know what I mean..

WTH???

I answered, but I'll answer again. I had never seen the Spanish version; and I assume most others hadn't either. There is no good answer for it though, things slip by, stuff happens, plans change. Pretty much anyone who works in a corporate environment should be aware of this.

I work in Staples data centers and things change on an hourly basis here, that's just how it is. Not to say that it's the "right" way to do things, but that's how it happens.

I'm spanish. my parents are spanish. they have spanish tv on all the time. I hear it in the background. Not once have I seen this commercial, or even heard of it. because of my selective hearing, if I even hear the mention of the word "thunder", I pay attention. I have heard nor seen nothing. But the commercial exists, and in that one unfortunate moment that someone did see it, they messed up and showed a month. But most likely, quickly retracted. And you know what, they don't owe us an explanation. They are a massive company, and we can all say that they owe us some type of answer, which in all honesty, they do. but they wont, because no matter what, people are still gonna buy it. as elemerica stated before, the "general population" is probably clueless about this phone. they wont know about a bonic, or the revolution. they probably have no idea this phone even exists. we are not "general population". we are enthusiasts, and most of us have probably followed this phone since before CES. That being said, we could stay here and argue about something pointless, or we could wait for Bennnnn to come back and keep us entertained. or anyone else for that matter. and he might or might not be telling telling the truth, but at least he kept us entertained for a while. the phone will come out when it does. and if we get it, lovely, and if not, then we move on. because thats the way the cookie crumbles.

CES VZW said (yes there reps) as soon as March... Weeks later the OFFICIAL VZW twitter clammed it was coming sooner than expected...

If thats not a official statement then I don't know what is, yeah ok its not a date and not an official PRESS release, but VZW has done there fair share of misleading.

Too much anecdotal evidence to sugest there is has not been a "delay". Whatever that word means to you....perhaps they were just moving the date forward for early launch and it did not work out. Whatever, that is water under the bridge at this point.

What will be interesting is to see how Verizon is going to handle this mess. IF the consumers stay away...this phone (and 4G LTE) could get off to a rocky start! What would keep me away? If Verizon cannot inform me as a consumer that they tried to start early, but could not, and that everything on the phone is working great (and I hear about what is up or down with Skype and the battery)...then I am OK. If I am not informed, right now my brain is saying....wait a week or two to see how this thing gets reviewed!...of course my heart is saying "buy it now"!....I will not be purchasing from heart again, I did that with my Storm!

If you haven't already gotten into this, but want your OG to fly... This will make your phone like a brand new one...

I'm rooted, running pete's Gingerbread ROM with a 1ghz kernel. I use LauncherPro and only have three homescreens and a few widgets. I think my Droid is just on its last leg.

I really thought this phone would be out on the 10th. Even if it's the 17th, I wish they would just announce it and start taking preorders... then I'll move on to be obsessed with fedex tracking updates!

As far as I remember, that tweet never said "We'll see it sooner for sure." It was more like "We might possibly see it sooner than expected."

It was an open ended statement that seemingly everyone took as "It'll be out sooner than expected, kthxbye."

today while I was driving to school, I realized that when the phone is actually released, I wont have to check the forums like I do now, hoping I see a "OFFICIAL DATE RELEASED!!!!!!!" thread. for the past month or so this phone has consumed some of us (me included), and I know we will all feel a lot better when this phone comes. regardless or the battery issues, or skype, or netflix, or the infamous cupholder, we will all feel a hell of a lot better.

Hey, sorry guys, busy day at work. This iPad has definitely taken priority over a lot of our projects for the week.

I would like to formally address the speculation and verification issues brought forth to me. After a conversation with iamlilysdad, it has been brought to my attention that I had infact "not been verified" by the moderators.

As Cory states,

Cory Streater said:
(Moderators) We are not in the business of verification, we are in the business of moderating.

I apologize to you all for all the confusion, as I was mislead by my assumptions myself, and I hope we can get this thread back on track.

Now, as I told Cory, I am not here looking for fame, honor, or free hand outs. I am simply here to provide my credible information with the general population on these forums who shares a common interest in the subject, and that is all. I stand behind my information one hundred percent, and I hope you all will acknowledge this in the following week leading up to the launch of the HTC Thunderbolt.

As I stated, I will still stand by my source (Director) and will continue to update information as I receive it. I am purely here to help out with what I can and prove what I can, while avoiding the risk of being identified by my employer.

As we know, it's difficult for me to give out information to everyone in this forum, to prove my identity without sacrificing my career, so I had entrusted a select few of you to share my information with, knowing that they would keep it confidential and help other members understand the situation.

Now, in lighter news, I can now happily confirm that the Thunderbolt is definitely on schedule for March 17th and I do not see any more delays in the future. Best Buy stores should be receiving shipments a day early for pre-orderers, but don't to worry if you didn't; you will definitely be the proud owner of an HTC Thunderbolt in 10 days.

Here is the 2/2/2011 tweet:

Many have waited for the Verizon #iPhone. Some looking for the #4G #LTE HTC #Thunderbolt. May be sooner than we expected!

Thanks Bennnnn! Why no press release if it's a done deal for 3/17? Are they anticipating more delays, so being cautious?

Right, thanks for that. I don't do Twitter either...damn I'm not up on all these fancy social networking things! I've bolded the important and relevant part:
