There's a storm brewing...

Thanks Bennnnnn,

You wouldn't happen to know the day that they are scheduling announcing the release date (if any)? This would be the most help of all!

Another thing to keep in mind is that Ben^5 claimed we would be able to get unlimited 4G data with the T-Bolt, but last week the CFO implied or even straight out said how the T-Bolt will offer a "taste" of what tiered pricing will look like.

I'm not saying he's trolling us necessarily, but if Ben^5 is legit it makes sense he would give us false information often just because the nature of the industry is so volatile and information always takes time to finalize and then go down the channels.

Now, in lighter news, I can now happily confirm that the Thunderbolt is definitely on schedule for March 17th and I do not see any more delays in the future. Best Buy stores should be receiving shipments a day early for pre-orderers, but don't to worry if you didn't; you will definitely be the proud owner of an HTC Thunderbolt in 10 days.

Can you define "definitely on schedule"? I'm not trying to be difficult or anything, but you said the 10th was a go last week. What makes your information now any different than last week?

I haven't heard anything yet because we are not focusing on the Thunderbolt this week. Could be this week, but most likely next.

Would you agree that VZ has bent over to Apple? Seems like everything has played second fiddle since they hopped into bed together.

Thanks. Do you have any idea if current Verizon customers will be able to preorder online? The nearest store is an hour drive away and I would rather just order it online.

Hey, sorry guys, busy day at work. This iPad has definitely taken priority over a lot of our projects for the week.

I would like to formally address the speculation and verification issues brought forth to me. After a conversation with iamlilysdad, it has been brought to my attention that I had infact "not been verified" by the moderators.

As Cory states,

I apologize to you all for all the confusion, as I was mislead by my assumptions myself, and I hope we can get this thread back on track.

Now, as I told Cory, I am not here looking for fame, honor, or free hand outs. I am simply here to provide my credible information with the general population on these forums who shares a common interest in the subject, and that is all. I stand behind my information one hundred percent, and I hope you all will acknowledge this in the following week leading up to the launch of the HTC Thunderbolt.

As I stated, I will still stand by my source (Director) and will continue to update information as I receive it. I am purely here to help out with what I can and prove what I can, while avoiding the risk of being identified by my employer.

As we know, it's difficult for me to give out information to everyone in this forum, to prove my identity without sacrificing my career, so I had entrusted a select few of you to share my information with, knowing that they would keep it confidential and help other members understand the situation.

Now, in lighter news, I can now happily confirm that the Thunderbolt is definitely on schedule for March 17th and I do not see any more delays in the future. I'm rooted, running pete's Gingerbread ROM with a 1ghz kernel. I use LauncherPro and only have three homescreens and a few widgets. I think my Droid is just on its last leg.

I really thought this phone would be out on the 10th. Even if it's the 17th, I wish they would just announce it and start taking preorders... then I'll move on to be obsessed with fedex tracking updates!

That doesn't make sense. Hardware doesn't get slower. It either works or it doesn't and the software running on it determines how fast or slow it is.

I think Pete's ROMs are crap. Try the latest CyanogenMod nightly.

My droid flies and I have 7 home screens and three widgets and tons of apps.

When it starts to get laggy and reboots won't work I just wipe and reinstall the ROM and voila.. back to new.

OK...it is not this week...

As part of my own made up self therapy I now feel better. No phone and no announcement this week. So my brain is just not that worried about it. Next week will be different I hope.

I am just curious, what happens after the day my contract is up? Do I just go month to month with the same plan/same bill? Does anyone know how this works?

I just wish VZW would make it official... I've been looking at buying a case off of eBay... and buy the new Thunderbolt on March 17th.

Thanks for the update Bennnnn!!!!!

Does that mean those of us who pre-ordered get our hands on it on the 16th?

What people don't understand is that as hardware gets upgraded so does the software. Apps today are much more advanced (i.e. Pulse) than apps back when the DROID was first released (i.e. ...NewsRob? Was that even out back then?), yet people keep insisting that "all you need to do is root, flash a custom ROM, and overclock your old piece of crap phone and it is good to go!" It doesn't work that way, it never has worked that way, and it never will work that way because otherwise 3/4 of the world would be out of jobs since people would then just keep their old technology and services for ten years at a time and be a-okay.

I am in the same boat as you. My DROID is the best it can be; it is stuck on a custom Froyo ROM and OC'd to 1.1GHz but the low RAM, the old-gen processor and the low internal memory prevent me from enjoying Gingerbread and many of the intensive apps and services on the market today. The rarely used QWERTY and much too easy to press haptic keys (that sit way too close to the edges of the screen compared to other phones) only get in the way of my enjoyment of the device. I wouldn't have lasted if I was still stuck on my Storm 1.

With all the other phones that are set to be announced in the next month or so, mainly the Bionic. How much money is HTC gonna actually lose rather than make on the Thunderbolt? Verizon has lost 3 or 4 prime weeks already selling this phone that they will never get back. With all the delays that have happened over this phone. HTC prob doesnt even need to make anymore of these phone because people are losing interest in this one and are already set to move on or wait until the Bionic comes out.

If you pre-ordered with Best Buy they will have it available to you one week later.....KIDDING

You gotta think BB will be making sure they get it as soon as they can!

I meant where did the info come from and how credible is it vs last week's information. I know it's all from his boss. I just want to know where his boss got the info and how sure he is of the date.

Again, not trying to be difficult. I'm in the camp of people that choose to believe that bennnnn is legit.
