download it again from the market... he has stopped putting some native apps in the source code because it causes issues with updates. personally, it is much easier to re-download than to do all of the steps it takes to get source apps to update correctly.

So after rooting my phone and trying Cyanogenmod (and hating it after a few days), I tried UD 2.0 and just wow. This ROM is so awesome! It's got an awesome theme, some really cool custom settings and it's actually made my Droid fast.

One problem I'm having is that it won't install custom apps like Swype or Fancy Weather. Anyone know a way to get Swype to install?

swype comes bundled, no need to re-install.

It looks like Swype was removed in 2.1, all there is now is the HTC keyboard for installation. Anybody else got an idea on how to get Swype?

check your PMs

EDIT: looks like your PMs are not working... let me know your e-mail and i'll get you the link. can't post it here!

My issue with UD is the lack of quickoffice. Is there a way to keep it with Titanium?

EDIT: Please do not post links to apks that are of paid apps. This is considered warez and is prohibited within this forum. If you would like to use Quick Office, you can always buy it in the market for $9.99

Thanks,
Brett

1. install Astro File Manager (free in market)
2. download the .apk file to your SD card (or download it to your computer, connect with USB and copy the file to your SDcard/download folder)
3. open your settings, click applications, check the "unknown sources" box
4. open Astro and navigate to sdcard/download then find the OpenOffice.apk
5. select the file and a box will prompt you to "open app manager"
6. click install
7. enjoy!

Unfortunately this file did not open properly and Force Closes on me every time I try to open it after installing as you mention in the above post. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but it seems that the file I am downloading for XDA is a version of Quickoffice for an HTC device and causing problems with the Droid 1.

hmmm, i have looked everywhere and cannot find a free version for the droid any more. it didn't used to be so hard.

Yeah not sure. May have to bite the bullet and shell out the $10 for Quickoffice or $15 for DocsToGo.

wow, i am so sorry i didn't think of this sooner. it is available already in the ROM! go to UD Settings -> Ultimate Droid Extras -> Built-In Apps -> Quick Office. I don't use it on my phone, so i didn't realize it was in there until i was installing the Terminal app from that menu today. *facepalm*

2.1 was good, but I had a couple of small annoyances with it.

- It tended to loose widgets. I would go to a screen and it would show me that it was unable to render the widgets. (Beautiful Widget - Home Weather, aTakephone Widget, Music Widget 4x1, Pure Calendar Widget).

- I would get the pop up box to ask me what I wanted as my default launcher about 6 to 8 times a day when I had selected Launcher Plus Pro as my default already a bunch of times. Tried isntalling home switcher for Froyo and that did not help either.

Right now I am running the 2.2.1 leak Deodexed with the Slayer 1.6 1200MHz kernel and it is running smooth, cool and fast as can be. I think I am going to stay in this configuration for a while.

What do I miss from UD2.1?
- The black notification bar
- The Power Control widget built in to the notification bar
- The awesome font for everything.

Solid Orange - Thanks for all your help with UD2.1
