things you notice after installing leaked froyo for droid x

Not sure if the items with ? marks after them were there before. Just noticed them myself.

  • Cannot turn off SD card notifications in Sound settings.
  • New Polar Clock live wallpaper (?)
  • No longer able to disable screen lock {grrrrrrr}
  • Option to use Power button to end call (?)
  • Several apps will not install due to this being an unofficial release: Touchdown key, Docs to Go key, Flight Track app/key & Remote Tunes to name a few. All apps I use constantly, of course.

Launcher Pro Plus still adds a lot of value - will never give that up.

camera auto sets setting to face detection, gotta turn that off if you want the scrren/red auto focus to show up

That was on 2.1. It was actually the first LW I ever saw, on the VZ Display unit.
Re: LPP, does their widget resizing work on the stock widgets from Moto? Or does it just stretch and warp them in some weird way? Thanks!

That's great news. I mess that up all the time.

I USE that all the time =(

the "Vibrate on keypress" for the multi-touch keyboard doesn't vibrate as strong as it did on 2.1. Its weak.

also, trouble with the access control on wireless tether. I had to disable it to be able to connect my laptop.

Pandora on Droid X 2.2?

Has anyone listened to Pandora since the upgrade? I heard the quality sucked on the EVO forums. Can anyone confirm it's good or not?

Also, I've heard it's impossible to downgrade if necessary back to 2.1. This was on an EVO. Is this true for Droid X also? Has anyone tried?

Thanks!

Holding volume down used to go down to vibrate and then ringer off. Only goes to vibe now.

To make the phone go to silent go to setting-sound-adjust vibrate. Unfortunately it is on or off, no happy middle. Same as Droid.

People have mentioned a new color for Swype. Is it the same version, or a new build? (settings->keyboard->swype shows me 1.55.29.7532 in the stock release)

To be fair about Quick Office, it was already installed in the phone, there was just no shortcut for it. I find it useful.

Sure you can, you go to settings, sound, SD card notifications

Yes, you can - settings, location & security, set up screen lock - none
  • Option to use Power button to end call (?)
Didn't ever use that before, don't know

    I don't use these.

Love my droid x w froyo!

Listening to Pandora right now sounds great!

Dont know about the second point.

and for the other poster this seems like a new build of Swype, the landscape keyboard is MUCH more functional as sort of a multitouch/Swype hybrid.

I noticed that Launcher Pro Plus People widget is working properly now on the DX with the contact pop-up. It didn't before bc Moto locked down that functionality.

Manage Applications is better now with tabs on top to display what used to be in the Filters.

Huh? I don't fully understand this. My dad's Droid just got Froyo this morning and he can no longer hold the volume button down to go to "Silent". It stops at "Vibrate".

So what you're saying is the only way to completely make the phone silent (no vibrate or ring) is to go into settings?

All the screenshots of the lock screen still seem to have the 'swipe for silent' option, that'd be another way

Yes, you can - settings, location & security, set up screen lock - none

Love my droid x w froyo!

Just to be clear, that does not disable the screen lock. I have set mine to "none" and it still locks.

The only work around I've found was the application "No Lock".

Are you talking lock or timeout? Cause there is a "never timout" in the screen timeout section. If you are talking about the slider that comes up after your screen goes off.

The unlock slider that shows up when you hit the power button. You used to be able to disable that & you can't now.

Also, I realize there's a setting to turn the SD card notification off. It doesn't work. It still makes a sound when I plug it in.

I'm glad you don't use any of the apps I listed, but I do, and pointed them out for others who might use them.
