Things you've discovered on Note 8?

Understandable. I was just highlighting how the 'Android System' is higher battery drain when running Touchwiz vs. Nova Launcher. That's all and that's why I prefer Nova (asked earlier in the post)
If you have 32% SOT in your Touchwiz example vs 4% with Nova, that would be a significant reason WHY you're THINKING Nova is better than Touchwiz. It's really not a fair comparison is what we're saying, because of the Screen On Time in your examples! With that, I'm done!

You're comparing apples and tricycles

The figures are clear to me. With 8x more time on screen Touchwiz is clearly the favoured launcher.

Has anyone tried to point out it's pretty hard to test a launcher with the screen off.

Incidentally I found that my car used far less petrol after painting it blue and leaving it in the garage for several days without driving it. That must mean that blue is a far more fuel efficient colour. I'll have to nip over to carenginescentral.com and let them know.

And the Touchwiz...
Thanks for trying to test it.
Now, I don't really know a way to test the 2 fairly so just use the launcher that you prefer.

With the oreo updates, the note 8 feels snappier with Samsung experience 9!

On battery topic I have discovered that, as with my other Notes I get excellent battery usage.
Admittedly my own usage is moderate with 4 hours of bluetooth music, a Pebble watch, maybe 1-2 hours of WWF or Draw something a day and general web searches and things.
I was a little surprised at the AOD amount as it is only set to be on between 05:00 and 07:30.

For reference this screenshot was after forgetting to charge last night with maybe only an hour or so total of Draw Something each day.
I'm guessing it masks its usage behing Google Play Services. I need to research how to stop that.

I did however, spend a good 3 or 4 hours wandering round settings looking at things that had cropped up on other forums and a fair bit of time in tasker tweaking scripts so the screen was on a fair bit.
I even forgot to drop the screen brightness from 40% to 30% during that time which is perfectly good enough in my living room.

As an aside I am using Next Launcher. I paid for it back in the day as a thanks for all the team's free apps I has been using under the old name and love the screen transitions I have. Nova probably is just as good these days and there is a whole side of Next I completely ignore (the 3D launcher). It might appeal to some but not me.
I wouldn't hazzard a guess at battery differences for that I'm afraid.

Thank you for thanking "b.grdner" because we were getting a little carried away there... we're not supposed to bust a person for trying, and I was right there in the middle of it. Sorry!

So, I have been looking at some old videos on youtube of the official Note product commercials. It was interesting to see all of the features from Notes past. Some, I had completely forgotten about. However, in looking at all these great features, I decided to do some exploring with my Note 8 again and I have rediscovered scrapbook and the glance features. These are really helpful.

OK new topic, I am running Oreo and my Amazon app wanted to update, so I tried to make it easier and turn on allows apps from unknown sources, and it's no longer in the security section. Amazon did take me to the permissions settings for it, but I still had to find it.

It's under the Apps settings, upper right 3 dots, Special Access, then Install Unknown Apps is at the bottom. Nice thing is that now I have granted permission it stays on for that app.

Is there anyway to increase PIP screen size? It's a great feature but that screen is tiny!

try using the recent apps icon
Recent apps and Picture in Picture are to separate and distinct features. If you're running oreo, open a video on the YouTube app. Once it's running, hit the home button. That's PIP.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to assume the size of the PIP window can't be changed.
