Things you've discovered

Samsung Notes tip - Although not nearly as good as S Notes, it's coming along. If you hold the S Pen button and double tap the screen, it will open a new note. This function will also work while in another app.
And now for us Prior S Note lovers, it's updated & can be downloaded from the Galaxy Apps store! I'm pretty happy about this. Maybe all that complaining to Samsung finally paid off. After install, Go into the 3-dot menu & download the 2 extra options.

Love threads like this. Thanks for all the tips everyone. Keep 'em coming!

As a normal Galaxy user, previously I had the 8Plus, this is my first Note. Ended up getting the 512 model. Are they any regular/advance Note tips/features, that I might not be aware of?

Have you installed this version? It shows latest update is Aug 21, 2018, but see Samsung's reply below to a review on Aug 26.

As far as we know, the last version to allow use of Action Memo is 5.2.04.25 as explained here - https://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=901873

Something I have discovered is a way to mimic double tapping the S Pen on the screen (while holding the button in) to open a new Action Memo. (Currently double tapping will open Samsung Notes.)

See pics below for how to set holding in the S Pen button for a second or two, about an inch or more away from the screent, to open an Action Memo (or actually any other app).

Samsung Core Apps are so underrated it's insane lol.

Do any of you guys or gals use Samsungs Link Sharing by any chance?

It's pretty neat. I'm sure you can do the same thing with Google Drive but I like how quickly you can send someone link showing them a full quality picture or video through a text message in just a few seconds.

Teach me!

You aren't aware that you won't need that extra space and could have saved 250 bucks? Ha... I tease... But really, you won't.

Maybe not but I’ve always hated transferring “some” apps to the sd card one at a time. The extra 2gb of ram seems nice as well. I almost purchased the 128gb version. Also with the BB, $200 off, it was only a $8/month difference. If I’m remembering correctly. I’d rather purchase the better version and not need it than purchase the cheaper version and end up regretting it. I’ve had it for 3 days and transferred the 64gb sdcadd from my old phone. Currently using 101gbs between the phone and sdcard. I’m feeling confident in making the right choice.

Anyone use DEX? I’ve never used it, but had a few questions.

I have a Pioneer headunit in my car. Usually I run Android Auto, but occasionally I’ll use the USBc-hdmi for the kids to watch Netflix/YouTube. With DEX being able to run just on a normal cable on the Note, are there any benefits to using DEX over hdmi mirroring? From my understanding, DEX is more geared towards a desktop experience. Was just curious if it had any neat features to check out? Mainly in the media category.

I just discovered that you can stream Bluetooth to a speaker and then play a video/audio file on your phone without interrupting the Bluetooth stream. Awesome.

I think this works with the s pen as well, but I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard linked to my phone and when I hover in this area, it brings up the whole message :)

Still waiting on preorder for mine so I've been looking up online about the features and operation. I have no intention of using AOD, (always on display) but I found that if you enable it, you can double tap the home button to launch the camera. That I really like.

So I might try a work around of enabling AOD, setting a black clock and turning up the transparency to max. So no battery usage but technically AOD is enabled and so I can use the quick launch camera.

I also discovered you can register a different, dedicated finger so that you can tap on the FPS on that finger and launch directly secure folder.

All good stuff. I also will use auto weekly restart. Feature galore this phone. Can't wait to get it.

Double-tap the power button to launch the camera instead, it works with or w/o AOD enabled (it will work from the home screen, lock screen or even with the screen off). Just enable it in the Camera Settings (Quick Launch).

Being very old school with a single wired earbud around the house I enjoy a little FM from my local station!

While jotting a note with the Spen, press the button will erase without the need to select the eraser.
