Thinking about buying the Samsung Galaxy Note

If the note was truly enough there's no need to look further. I bought mine about 3 weeks ago knowing the HTC one X and the Galaxy SIII were around the corner.

Those two phones while I'm sure are great don't have what the Note has. A 5.3" screen and a stylus. That's what I wanted and that's what I got.

I kept my iPhone 4s which had since release while testing the Note. And I made my choice on the Friday before the Monday Apple WWDC event which many including myself believed would be the unveiling of a larger new iPhone 5. Why didn't I wait two more days to see what Apple had or wait until the galaxy SIII released?

Because I truly believe what that this Note is what I want as is. I've held 4.7" phones and they feel small compared to the Note. On the note I read a book and type easily on the keypad due to its size. That's what I want. And since the X, the SIII nore the iPhone 5 would likely match those features I saw no reason to wait.

Little update. I got the Note at Costco, and got $100 off somehow. I've had it for about 2 days now, and am loving everything about it. I feel that the OS on it is better than the OS I had on my iPhone 4. The screen size is also perfect for me. I love web browsing and watching videos on it. Also 4G LTE is amazing.

Glad you like it. I can text super fast on it. Changed the default keyboard to Android. Saves space and I like the Android keyboard over the Samsung one.

I hate the Samsung keyboard, but the already installed Android keyboard is pretty darn great IMHO, and so I tend to stick with that. Lot's of folks love SWIPE, which is also already installed I believe.

I once had a T-Mbile G2X that I wanted to root and put a new ROM on. I guess I'm not that technical anymore. I went to XDA and rather than finding simple instructions, I found 400 posts of various people each with their own conflicting opinions on how to do things. It was too confusing.

Is there a simple set of instructions from A to Z on on how to put ICS on the Note, should I ever decide that might be worth doing?

And alos, I keep hearing that those who do such things lose a function here and there, like GPS working correctly or something else. I like my phone to have all the features it came with. I don't want to compromise any of them. Is that kind of thing still going on?

These guys can't shoot a video to save their lives. Horrible.

If I ever do figure it out, I'll make a real video and not this bull from kids who've never shot a camera in their lives and had to prove it.

Again... These guys are idiots. Start at the beginning. They've never written a tutorial in their lives it seems. You have to start with the tools needed, how to install them and where to get them. What the install process looks like. You just don't say things like, google this, and before you do what I just showed you you have to do this other thing and before that do xyz and if you're not sure google it and next week I'm going to show this other thing...

CLUELESS MORONS should not be doing videos.

This is exactly what I was saying earlier. No one who knows how to write or shoot a video is showing a how to. It's a bunch of morons that couldn't convey a thought to save their lives showing sloppy stupid videos.

Thanks for trying, but I'd want someone who is comprehensive before I go potentially wrecking my $700 phone.

Glad you like it, The official ICS will hopefully be out in less than a month.
I have been waiting on it but decided to flash a custom ROM instead.

Actually have had the first ICS ROM then the updated one (UCLD3) which
was perfect. The UCLD5 wasn't. Currently running UCLE2 with OnlyOne Goldie
ROM which is great as well.

Just enjoy the GingerBread it has now and install the ICS when it comes out
again in a couple of weeks hopefully.:)

No, you have to be a complete idiot to start with item 3, then talk about item 2 and then refer to item 1 and then tell the viewer to google something.

I've written tons of tutorials, even a book, and you start from the start and explain what tools are needed before you begin. Explain what the tools are and why they are used. Then you go step by step and show the screens so that the user knows what (s)he will see before it happens on their phone. Look at the forum posts in those posts. Many people have issues and ask for help because the moron showing you how to do this is doing nothing more than doing it himself and recording it. The problem with that is his machine is already set up to do it. He's not taking you from A to Z.

Tons of people are clueless when it comes to explaining to someone else how to do something from A to Z. And these guys are of that kind of people.

LOL. Sounds like an old aquaintance of mine who told me a story about how he use to work in a restaurant (as a manager) and he was dining at Lonestar Restaurant with his boss and he started scolding the waiter and demanded to see the manager because they brought out the salad and main meal almost at the same time. His voice was raised so high preaching at the manager about dining "etiquette" and serve timing. LOL at the fanatical hobbyists and so called pro's. They wear a super gravitational belt so everyone gets pulled into their personal world. Hehe.

Well, now I'm laughing because I have actually done exactly that very thing you just said. I had a waiter bring the salad, the main course, desert, coffe and the check, at the same time. And I exploded in anger, asked to talk to the manager and had to explain to them how to properly serve their customers.

I don't know about you, but I expect to be waited on when I dine out. I'm not ordering from McDonald's. A good restaurant should know better.

Now if you go to a good restaurant, you will indeed see a real waiter or waitress in action. It is a completely different experience. When I see a teenager coming to serve me, I'm already not happy. Chances are they have not been properly trained. They might even call you, Dude.

If that doesn't bother you, that's fine. I'm not from that world. I don't go to a hotel to be called, "Dude". I don't pay what I pay to have some idiot drop everything off at the table in one instant and think his job is over. It's not. Waiters and Waitresses are there to serve you. If I wanted to serve myself I'd have stayed home and cooked for myself, which is what I do almost all the time. Since I eat healthy food, not the crap they serve in restaurants. I'm also a very good cook and typically prefer to make my own dishes. I know how to get it right. I get sick of $2 cooks in fancy restaurants that couldn't boil a hotdog if their lives depended on it.
