Thinking about trading my Note 8 for a Pixel 2 XL

Well, I guess it was too good to be true. This evening my newer production date XL2 developed a serious screen issue. It has a solid gray line across the screen with a slight indent on the right, and the top of the screen is completely messed up. This doesn't show in screenshots, so it's not a software issue. Glad I had not yet sold my Note 8.

Wow that sucks. That sounds like impact trauma my 8 year old accidentally did that to a TV once.

I haven't dropped the phone, or caused any damage to it so not sure. It went away overnight, but is now back after a few hours of use this morning. I'll go exchange it.

LG is the common factor. It has to be the worst manufacturer when it comes to quality control. No wonder the sales people and the carriers do not want to push LG phones. Sorry for your bad luck.

Very true! I forgot the Pixel 2 XL is an LG product.

In fact, wasn't the Nexus 4 also an LG product? Also plagued with weird build issues?

Apple must be getting a crazy cheap deal seeing they are pursuing LG for most of their OLED screens beginning this year - to get out from under their contract with Samsung.

Not "most", only about 15 million for an iPhone X + this year. That's actually not very many panels for Apple.

Probably a mistake on Apple's part. The panels will not be Samsung quality.

Guess I spoke too soon. I honestly don't know how LG does quality control.

Kinda hoping we won't have to discuss this in the future. It's honestly just heartbreaking to see such a great phone plagued with QA issues. So many things I love about it and yet when I'm going to give it another chance, the QA issues keep biting back. I sometimes wish that if I got the 2 XL, I'd get one from the golden batch.

Makes sense since they did buy a portion of HTC's smartphone business.

That's not being picky. Buying an $800-$1000 flagship it by all means should work beyond well.

This thing of Samsung Lag must be isolated to Snapdragon Samsungs, I have owned Exynos Samsungs incl. My S7 Edge and Note8, both of which run beautifully.

My Note 8 has had zero lag. I honestly don't know what Flossy is running on his.
