Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

but cell phones don't necessarily get released on sale on Sundays (just like movies/music/books are Streed Dated for Tuesdays--but still featured in the Sunday Ad)

i wish, though.

That is correct, that's why the 2/17 date could be correct. Which means BB can announce on their 2/20 ad so that people can buy the phone that Sunday.

Think about it, Does it make sense to advertise the product with price (but no date) and they tell people, well it's kind of not available until Thursday. We just want you to come to store for nothing!!

i agree. if the ad is in fact for the 20th the phone would have to be available before which means the 17th or 14th (if we're lucky). i dont think best buy would have that advertisement for a phone that isn't available yet.

Guys, I'm all cool with the whole HTC Thunderbolt finally arriving. But am I the only one who finds this price... High? I mean Yeah, the tech is better than say the EVO, but the Adreno 205 GPU and 768 mb of ram... Do they justify the extra $150 off contract price? I mean, the MyTouch 4g has many of the same internals (not the ram) and it's not even that much off contract.

Not to mention, the stupid stand/usb problem and no HDMI out. Is this really worth it?

I was extremely excited for this and/or the Incredible 2, and the Bionic, but if this is the pricing scheme, I'm going to be sorely disappointed in the coming two months.

Don't forget that if you buy the TB you won't have to buy a separate micro SD card, it comes with a 32GB card.

Last I checked those cards were going for around $50.

Also, it is DLNA compatible without an HDMI connection. Personally I don't have a need for an HDMI connection on my smartphone. If you must have an HDMI connection there are other options.

I agree $750 way too much. But I think they can get away with $250 (not too bad). But for me real price question will be 4g data prices. Anything more then $30 per month and I am out.

there is an included 32 GB microSD card and that runs up to $100+ and LTE support which is the fastest 4G I have seen.

This is true and so far the cheapest 32GB microSD card I've found is about $80.

Even if it's week after, wouldn't that mean the launch date is 2/20 and not 2/24? Best Buy's ad starts every Sunday.

They often indicate when products will be available if not on that Sunday. From the pics we have seen, doesn't seem like they have that info. Will piss some people off when they go in and are told 2/24 but that's probably better than missing the ad window.

My mom called our Best Buy earlier today and he gave the 14th date, but I called back 5 mins later and talked to a guy and he said that they received an email yesterday that it's no longer the 14th. He said they didn't know when it was going to be. So who knows cause It sure isn't us!
