Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

so did they just say, whenever verizon decides to release it you can come get it lol

wonder if they told them when?

Titans.. Which store are you going to on Monday. I'm going to get to the one off of FLW and Northsight for the 9 AM opening if you want to meet up.

Best Buy 2 year pricing

can i buy the TB at best buy on 2 year contract, then call up vzw to have it switched to a one year and pay the diff in pricing? I have couple best buy gift cards so it would be helpful

I'm being sincere: Please help me understand why everyone wants to buy from Best Buy so badly. The phones at Best Buy can often be marked up $50 bucks or so from what you would get at a Verizon store (not yet sure if the same will be true with this phone yet). Plus you have the flexibility of a 1-year contract from Verizon that Best Buy can't offer (which is very attractive now that Verizon doesn't let you upgrade after 12 months anymore).

And sure, you can enter their buyback program, but it's not that great of a deal. You would be able to sell your phone in the local classifieds or ebay for more than Best Buy would give you anyway - and they only give you a gift card, not cash. Plus, if you do decide to return your phone within the 12 month period when they pay the most for their buyback, you're still locked into at least 12 more months of your contract preventing you from doing another upgrade for another year

BB's claim to fame was no MIR's -- everything was instant. Sometimes they do offer better pricing on phones as well.

If VZW will offer this phone without any MIR's (in other words $250 as-is, not $350 with $100 MIR) then I wouldn't buy from BB either.

I'm hoping/praying that I can get the 1yr contract price with the instant rebate at VZW.

See I never got why ppl liked to get phones at bb either... the verizon store near me has always done instant rebates for me and my family for many years, and also honored any Online BOGO or rebates as well.

I guess we have been spoiled here.

Verizon changed their policy. They now no longer do MIRs on smartphones and apply the rebate instantly just as Best Buy does:

So yea, I don't see what advantage Best Buy offers that Verizon doesn't

only wanted to buy from them since the guy told me they will have them tomorrow and vzw id have to wait, wasnt sure if that was an option, i did it once before long when the storm 2 came out, bought it from BB 2 yr contract called and had it switched to 1 yr. but not sure if maybe i was just lucky

I bought my Fascinate at Best Buy for the main reason that I could get it in white and because they were selling it $50 cheaper than Verizon at the time. I think it depends on the timing, sometimes it's more attractive of an option to get a phone at Best Buy than Verizon, sometimes it's not.
