LOL at VZW in that article saying the Best Buy determines it's own Product release dates. Someone is not telling the truth.
Well, they can set whatever date they want -- it all depends on when VZW releases the device and ships inventory to stores.

Perhaps the 14th was the target date and the 24th is the fall back date?

I posted this in another thread but the VZW rep went on to say that no phone on their network has been sold exclusively by another retailer and not them, except for color variants (ie white fascinate, white incredible). I have talked to quite a few reps in the last couple of weeks. I have got differing answers on release date and 4G pricing, but all of them have said they will have the Tbolt the same day as BBY. One went so far as to say "Why wouldn't we sell our first 4G phone on launch day?" To me it's like Chevy only selling new Corvettes through CarMax.
I completely agree with that. To me it would make no sense what so ever. I guess we just gotta wait for the news.
I bought my original Droid from Best Buy on the release date. Over a year later and I have all sorts of issues(Charging port broken, keyboard broken and coming apart, phone resets every hour or two, dropped called, missed calls, calls don't go out and same with texts.) I have their insurance on it. Once the tbolt comes out, I'm sending it off to get fixed, waiting a week with a loaner android phone, then getting my gift card for a similar or better phone(Which is about 600 bucks). Then I'm buying the tbolt.
I will always do that. Its a couple bucks more than Verizon insurance, but tons better. It covers everything that came in the box.

i might have read to much into it, but you used as fuel for your side of the conversation. it is not an entirely accurate statement and definitely not a rebuttal to my views. i do enjoy the back and forth here and have fun doing so, but i am going to let this one rest. you feel it is suide to not have in VZW stores, i dont think they care and dont think it will effect anything in the big picture for them.

This is a deal breaker. I have $100 NE2. I guess I will be getting from VZ store or VZ online.
I'm right there with you! Was originally waiting for the Atrix till AT&T decided to screw the laptop dock over with the price + tethering bull, so TBolt it is.
Perhaps they'll announce it via a super bowl commercial?

But what looks like a Best Buy flyer on Android Central's Web site appears to announce that the HTC Thunderbolt, Verizon's first 4G phone, is expected to be promoted in Best Buy's ads next week, soliciting pre-orders.
Rumor has it that the HTC Thunderbolt pre-orders will start on Feb. 14, and a tweet from Verizon indicated that the handset will come "sooner than we expected."
Verizon has said that it expects the Thunderbolt to available by mid-2011.
1:10 p.m. A wireless-industry source tells us that one other retailer will start taking pre-orders online next week and will have the phone on sale on the 13th.

That is what I am thinking as well. It just sucks because we've heard and seen some things from Best Buy themselves, but nothing really official from VZW. I just want them to announce something already.
I just called BestBuy stores and they told me I can't use New Every Two credit at BestBuy.
So I got no choice but buy it from vz online or store.
