Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

Well, I went to BB and did the preorder. The clerk had been off work for a week and knew nothing about it. However, she called over another associate who helped her get everything rung up. I was the first customer to request the T-bolt preorder today. They did say the 14th and the free buy-up protection extends through the 19th so it will qualify. It is a day of yes all around.

just called my local best buy an the 1800 number for best buy. both said the final price was $199 on 2 year contract an htc has given them the 14th as the release date, the latest i would recieve the phone would be 16th

I don't even think I would waste my time at the Verizon store. I called customer service yesterday and said they had no release date for the TB. Best buy said it was definitely the 14th. It looks like the Verizon store doesn't want to crowd its stores with iPhone and TB people at the same time.

Verizon loses money on the sale of each phone so I'm sure they would love Best Buy to sell millions of them. I forsee the TB going on sale at BB on the 14th and on sale at Verizon the 24th. There still getting the contract and not losing $ on the hardware. Just my .02

Thanks for the info all! I am not jumping the gun until I know anything about the 4G plan and the price.

Here is what I got from my chat with a Verizon representative a couple of minutes ago:

You: I wondered what the data plans for the 4G phones will cost.
VZ: I would be more than happy to assist you with your questions, The data package plan for the Thunderbolt will be $29.99.
Chad: Is that the same as the data plan for the Original Droid (which I have now)?
Chad: (I don't look that closely at my statement each month.)
VZ: Yes it is.
VZ: Yes
Chad: GREAT news! Thank you! ... By the way, do you have any idea when the Thunderbolt will come out?
VZ: Unfortunately, we do not have that information at this time, but you are able to sign up for our Email Updates and they will let you know if anything comes up. Hover over the Support tab and you will be ale to click on the link from the list.

i just spoke to best buy on the 1-800 number an my local store, both told me the phone would be $199.99 with 2 year an release on the 14th....

we still arent getting legit answers lol

I just got off the phone with a Verizon representative. She informed me that I will still get the $100 credit on the upgrade, even if I get it @ Best Buy. Heading over to deposit later today. I also checked regarding plan prices, and she indicated my plan will be unchanged as I am on the current version of the plan and have the data pack already.

I just called VZ too and they said the same thing BUT when i called Best Buy they are saying "no", they won't give me $100 NE2.

Now who should i believe?

Well all this nonsense going on with best buy has kept me from pre-ordering with them. If they had their stuff together, and trained their employees to give correct information out then they would have had my business but they have failed. I have a $100 NE2 credit and i wont spend $50 on a best buy preorder if I'm not confident they will give me my NE2.

In the past, when Verizon officially announces the release date of a phone, you can call 2 or 3 days ahead and order it with overnight shipping. I don't see any reason why this wont happen as usual.

Anyone else going to stick it out and do a phone order like me? lol

I think it is funny that no one can give us a price. I have heard so many diffrent prices my self some at the same store.

I am. I have a $30 NE2 that I want to use. I've always upgraded over the phone via VZW and have always had a good experience.

I don't need to have it the first day or week. I'm ok waiting til VZW opens sales.

Just my two cents, but i wouldnt trust best buy to put the $50 credit on the next bill. From what I know BB wont honor the NE2.

Im waiting and getting it at verizon
