Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

What means 2 year only? Best Buy is only going to be the exclusive 3rd party retailer selling it. Verizon stores will still be selling the Thunderbolt. Best Buy won't be able to do 1 year contracts, but you should still be able to get one at Verizon.

If its helpful to anyone my Best Buy (92nd and Sheridan Westminster CO) did a pre-order over the phone, no problem.

Another thing to consider is that Verizon got rid of their 1 year plan. Really though, Best Buy is a great place to buy phones. They have an awesome warranty (pretty much no questions asked) and they're pretty quick about it. I had a Fascinate for a month while I waited for more info about the TBolt, and taking it back was no hassle at all. They didn't even check to see if I rooted the phone! I unrooted it first, but that was still pretty cool. I know people love to hate on Best Buy, but I'm one of the few who doesn't mind shopping there. There's certain things I wouldn't buy, like anything with computers, but I enjoy it.

yup as of right now looks like im sticking with best buy. i went to vzw today because my boyfriend had to get his incredible replaced. i asked about the thunderbolt and the guy said they had no information on it and that they hadn't even received training yet!!! i don't really mind buying from best buy though because i can at least give the buyback program a shot. if i hate it ill just get a 1 yr contract next time. my #1 priority right now is getting rid of my crappy phone!

so if i buy mine from best buy would they be able to charge it to my verizon account like they would at verizon?

No BB cannot charge to your VZW account. However, Verizon rep did tell me on Sunday that if I get the T-Bolt, even at Best Buy, Verizon will give me the $100 credit for my NE2 on my next month's bill so I am square either way.

Is the NE2 credit just for the primary line or does it apply for family lines as well?

Just left my BB...she said they will definitely have them for 200 or 250 on the 14th, but I walked out when she said 2 years is the only option. Hoping VZ has it Monday...then I can finally throw my Storm 1 off the Peace Bridge and post it on youtube.

Woah, really? Hells yes, I'm calling Verizon tonight!

EDIT: Is there something I'm missing about chatting with them? I've done this before, but now I can't find the link for the life of me.

@Comineeyeaha - I just called 611 from my storm then hit zero for an operator. Old fashioned, yes. But I got my answers pretty quick and the customer service agent did seem to know what she was talking about.

Yeah, I'll probably just have to call then. I'm at work, so I was hoping to just chat, but I guess that's what lunch breaks are for.

Talked with the BB in Cranberry Township, PA. I asked them about the launch date. They said that they will have it on the 17th. I asked them about the NE2 credit that I have ($30). They said they will honor the NE2 credit. I asked about the activation fees. They said they don't have any. Will check with the one in Monaca, PA and see what they say...

I just went to my local Best Buy and two employees both told me that they couldn't give me my NE2 credit of $30, that only VZW could do that. I really wish they would figure out what they are doing.

I also asked about the availability date and they said that pre-orders end on 2/16; apparently their pre-order periods always end the day before the item is on the shelves.

Can anybody confirm 100% whether or not Best Buy will allow you to sign a one year contract on Verizon?

Also, does anybody know how phone numbers are assigned to you? I am currently at school in Santa Barbara, but I live up North. I plan to start a new plan and get the Thunderbolt, and I want a new number. Do they give you the number based on your address you are putting on the account, or based on where you are signing up for it?

Oh, and, I preordered mine. The girl said the 14th. Though both employees seemed pretty clueless.

Called Verizon. As soon as the girl told be that Best Buy will honor the NE2 and give me 50 bucks off I stopped trusting her. I'm nowhere closer to knowing.
