Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

here is an screen shot from the website when i went online this morning. i clicked on the weekly ad section and the BOLT had its own page.

Ugh, did you guys notice this?

If you go here, click on the "Browse by category" drop down and select Mobile Phones, sort highest priced to lowest, you see the multiple listings for TB.

The one that's $299 is referred to as the "32GB" version in the ad details, whereas the $249 one doesn't mention memory.

The ad here in Omaha states its 249.99$ for a 2-year contract at BestBuy. Not sure where this 299$ business is coming from.

The Buyers Guide (March edition) from Best Buy has the $299 pricing. The weekly ads have $249.

i just saw that, there are 4 listings of the BOLT on the weekly ad. the $249 listing does not seem to include a 32gb card with it, but the $299 listings have it included.

I hate to say it, but if that pricing ends up being accurate across the board, I may have to jump ship on the Bolt. That's just too damn much for a subsidized phone. $199 is to be expected, $249 is acceptable for a flagship device which boasts new features, but $300 is just over the line IMO.

I have not drawn the line on the shenanigans of this whole TB release, but if there is a $50 surcharge for a class 4 32GB memoery card I am going to be pissed. $250 was already pushing things, but $300 is just asking for a whole extra level of BS. Sure it is cheaper than buying the card on your own, but I will feel very mislead since the 32GB card was touted as being a STANDARD feature.

That does seem to explain the price difference, but note that the 3 asterisks for 32 GB point to a statement: "***Expandable memory storage (sold separately)"

If it is sold separately, then why is the price listed as $299.99 for the unit that mentions the 32 GB? Not very well edited is my guess. See pfiz113's screen shot above in Post #1004.

I hope this isnt true... $300 is way to much and if they dont include the 32G card for $249 they are nuts. Sorry I know it has 4G LTE and Verizon is better but with the Inspire being $79 and the Atrix being $149 .... $300 is CRAZY!

I just checked HTC's website for the TB, and the 32GB card is a standard preinstalled feature. If Best Buy trys to pull games by charging more for the card, I'm going to raise cain and hold their foot to the fire with HTC's spec's.

Also notice the buyers guide just says $299.. The ad says $249 after discount. I bet the normal price is $299 then the $50 instant rebate ( Verizon no longer does mail in rebates for smart phones ) makes it $249 .

Well I really pciked a winner to get excited about! As a consumer i am becoming lost in all this.

As of this writing, the ad is displayed on the web WITHOUT correction. I am going to the store later to see if there is a correction posted in store. Either way, since the web ad does NOT display a correction, I will be filling out the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs complaint form (linked below-search your state's Division of Consumer Affairs website for a similar form if you are not in NJ). This, IMO, clearly falls under the "deceptive practices" category in the state statutes.

I don't expect to get my phone. What I do hope is that if enough of us file, Best Buy will point the finger where the REAL blame for this is, and we can get some kind of official comment.

Just called my local Best Buy, the rep said that the HTC Thunderbolt is NOT in stock...He said it would be available "around" the 26th...When I mentioned the sales ad for this week showing the HTC Thunderbolt on sale, he stuttered saying, "we know, but Verizon pushed the date back"...

Yeah, I also just got off the phone with my local Best Buy. They said that the phones aren't in yet even though the ads suggested that they would be. I asked if it would be this week or next week and they said they weren't sure but that when I pre-ordered they took my number and would call when the phone was available for me.

So... back to my regularly scheduled programming this Sunday. :D

just went into a local store and they done have em here or any other location in Houston. More waiting until the 24th I guess.
