Thunderbolt Confirmed in this week's Best Buy Ad

I'm still betting on the 24th, based on what I heard for myself, plus someone pointed out that Verizon tends to release phones on Thursdays, plus it's "close" to the end of the month.

But still I wonder if this has anything to do with the troubles that have befallen the Inspire. I don't remember if the story was posted here or Engadget, about the Inspire not being HSUSAP ready.

Maybe, maybe not.

Just called the store I called yesterday when they told me they'd have the phone FOR SALE. I asked if the TB was for sale or are they just taking pre-orders. Answer: pre-orders. At that point I said "So your print ad lied again, right?" Answer: Yes. Me: "Thank you, I'll wait until they get it at VZW I'm not playing your games anymore." and hung up the phone.

the tbolt is dead to me, seriously. i am not going to buy it. my Dinc is still kickin like a chicken. i am actually going to spend my duckies on a xoom. i will get more out of it for my business than gaining .5" and a few other upgrades over my current phone. i was actually very interested in the skype integration and FFC for easily keeping in touch with family while on the road. i will just use the xoom for that. not to mention i was going to be paying out of pocket, my upgrade is not until august. i will then see whats out, or more than likely get sucked into waiting for the next rumored device :)

Okay, I just called Best Buy 1-888 number and the csr I was talking to put me on hold and spoke to his supervisor after some pushing and prodding on my part (yet trying to remain very polite)and accordingto the rep, his supervisor told him that todays ad was published according to the info BB got from VZW but then VZW pushed the date back "due to iPhone situation" (in the rep's words) and that they had no further info on any future release dates.

I am not sure whether this supervisor had authentic info or even he was just speculating. The rep had no answer to my queries about whether BB was going to do anything to remedy this fiasco.

It was AT&T that insisted on HSUPA being turned off on the Inspire,it can be re-enbled with rooting.

Ya, I really do not understand what is keeping verizon from just making some sort of statement explaining whats up. I really do not get what is so hard about it.. They know that there are MANY upset people out there rite now, why not show they care a little bit? This is EASILY the worse handled launch for any product ever.. I have been part of maaaaany launches for video games, systems and phones, none of them have even come remotely close to the screw up that is the T-Bolt launch.. Siiiiiiigh.

Too bad on a $300 price at BB. And a $750 retail is ridiculous - you can buy a XOOM tablet for only $50 more. That being said, they can charge whatever we want and we (the consumers) still have the right not to buy it from them. I'm still holding out faith that Verizon will set it cheaper, as BB normally (but not always) adds a premium to their prices for phones at launch

As for the launch date, I'm still hoping for the 24th. My cutoff is Tuesday (since Monday is a holiday). If we don't hear anything by then, it won't be here on the 24th - time will tell :p

Based on the info we have, I think Verizon is "planning" on a 24th launch, but is waiting until they have their internal issues solved before officially announcing it. If they have their problems fixed by the 24th, then yay. But if not, then by not announcing an official date yet, they are free to wait on release without being crucified for missing their announced date

Why do people want to buy from Best Buy so badly??

Just get it from Verizon themselves. They will have it the same day and there's a good chance it will be cheaper there. And Verizon now applies mail-in-rebates on the spot (which used to be the reason to go to Best Buy).

So Best Buy really offers no advantage over a Verizon store with the exception of their buyback program, which has already been discussed in great detail on this and other sites and has shown to be a poor investment

It is a concern to anyone but me that the TB seems to have been delayed a couple/few times due to problems w/it? I'm really beginning to wonder if it's a good idea to buy the very first phone for their 4G network - maybe better to wait until the bugs are worked out.

Of all the conspiracy theories about the delay, my favorite is the VZW IPhone theory.

Why do people want to buy from Best Buy so badly??

The ONLY reason I was contemplating purchasing from BB was the fact that the TB was SUPPOSED to be available today according to the printed ad from yesterday's paper. It boils down to being sick to death of not being able to get on the Internet with my Storm and that BB was supposed to have first-sale-rights over VZW so was gonna be in BB a few days before VZW stores. I would prefer to not make a 70mi round trip to BB and just buy it 6 blocks from my house at VZW to be honest with you but if I could have gotten it today I would have made the trip.

Well, BB blew it and so now I won't buy from them based on principal - at all, period, end of story. They had their chance, the BB clerk I talked to on the phone yesterday said the phone would be for sale today, the VZW customer support gal I talked to yesterday said it would be available at BB today. The guy I talked to today answered "yes" when I said "So you're telling me your print ad lied AGAIN." That's all I needed to know - it was my last BB straw.

Yes, I know you can't believe anything you hear about the availability of this phone. I didn't believe any of them, which is why I wasn't standing on their doorstep when they opened the store this morning. My gut told me it would be a wasted trip.
