Thunderbolt delayed to April?

Hey guys...I got some bad news. I spoke to a verizon tech support specialist at 7pm and he said that the thunderbolt will not be out until the 2nd quarter. He said verizon is having issues with their 4g LTE network operating with the phone. He was also talking about the tiered data plan that is also delaying the phone. He said he expects an april or may launch. I hope he is not correct! This is the last thing I needed to hear.

Tiered data plan on the Thunderbolt? If that's true, then I'll pass.

Seriously, how long before people stop believing the crap these reps are saying. I've only been here a short time but its been proven countless times in that span that reps have as much info if not less than we do, some even admitting that they get their info from blogs and forums like this one. For all we know said tech support agent is only giving info that we knew about a couple weeks ago and has since been resolved.

Over at Droidforums.net, a guy actually has a working demo unit and has been using it for the last couple days. I for one refuse to believe that Verizon would be sending out demo's if they weren't confident in the device and the network, otherwise why risk the possible fallout when testers go out into the blogsphere and bash the phone for its poor battery performance and the horrible LTE network performance.

BMX has said it's ready, Bennnnn said it's ready, if you believe Seminole Fan he's in agreement with BMX and this guy over at DF.net definitely thinks it's ready so I'm gonna go ahead and assume the phone is ready.

At this point we're just waiting on Big Red to give the go ahead, there are just too many whispers and too many "insiders" pointing to an imminent release for me to believe there is any chance of it being pushed back into mid April or even May. Believe what you want though.

Mayhem

Has anyone thought of maybe waiting a few months before buying the phone because of all the delays - it might have some serious bugs...I want it NOW, but if it's going to be trouble maybe not such a great idea?

I think they are lying about the 4g network issues so they can release it when they get the teired plans in place to make even more $$$$ of us as we continue to fall prey to sly executives he earn a hefty paycheck for making stock holders $$$$$$$$$$$

That would make my decision easy. I am going somewhere else (ie AT&T or Sprint).

iv been thinking the same thing, while they could get people setup with unlimited for $30 they are working up a new data tier for us an getting all the legalities an marketing for it ready at the last second, the longer this takes, the worse this feels, they say mid summer. but i think that "sooner than we expected" will come into play.

if they announced they are talkin bout it, they didnt just start, its been thought of an almost in place

If Verizon doesn't announce a release date by next week I'm headed elsewhere.

This is a joke, if something is wrong then just come out and say it. No more of this "soon" bull****. I get that delays happen and its rarely smooth but Verizon is trying to play it both ways by not saying anything official but suggesting the release is near for fear of losing customers.

Well BMX did say that we could expect the TB around St. Patricks Day. Which is the 17th, which just so happens to be a thursday this year. Maybe they're going to do some large promotional st patricks day stunt.

Def. not true imo. But if it di somehow get delayed, no biggie. I'll get the incredible 2.

same here the dinc i believe if im not mistaken will be dual core....which would be faster anywys just have a smaller screen. i cant wait till april my my storm really sucks now more than ever. it had went out for a week and decided to turn on yesterday and it works but very crapy....

The DINC2 will not be dual core, its a single core SnapDragon.

Yea...I personally NEED a dual core phone as sometimes I can blink before my Evo opens an application...lol As long as Microsoft doesn't release an Office Version for Android I think single core phones are plenty fast. Maybe that's why dual core is getting released...<shudders> Need a bigger storage card too.

You're right, I really don't think anyone "needs" a dual core now. But I would like to be more prepared for months 10-20 of my contract than I was the last time I bought a phone. I bought an Eris at launch instead of getting the Droid because I liked the size and didn't want a keyboard. It has been great for me but has been very limited for the past 6 months with new updates coming out. I don't want to make the same mistake this time. I know you can never totally future proof tech purchases, but I want to at least give myself a chance to be prepared for changes I know are coming in the next 6-8 months.

Man I have been on this forum for more than 3 hours now. I gotta go and get some sleep .... have to work graveyard shift again tonight. Is anyone willing to rouse me from my sleep in the unlikely event of an official announcement? I will PM my #

Yea, I had a Hero (Eris) but truthfully, it is as fast now as it was when it was new. Unless they start bloating apps, which I doubt will happen due to limited storage on phones, I think a single core will be fine for many years. My first version of M$ Office came on 5 diskettes...Now it's a DVD and does the same thing... Open Office (OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite) still fits on a CD, but is slowly gaining in size.

I think the Bolt will be good to go (relevant) for a few years just like the Evo still is almost a year later. The Nexus 1 still is.

June say it aint so!

I was just on the phone makeing some changes to my account and decided to inquire about the Thunderbolt. I was told that it was pushed back until June! FML. I guess will get a DROID X until then

June sounds about right. All the bugs should be all worked out of the network as well as the phone. One good point about that, we will have several nice 4G phones to pick from.
