Today is the 18th. WHERE'S MY FROYO!!!

i remember patches from crackberry. He seems pretty close to the process and was right on about the bb storm OTA releases. I can vouch for him...

He may be but this article was already on one of the blogs the other day. Seems unlikely HTC would delay an update based on a phone they arent making yet (SLCD Incredible).

Froyo is nice, but its not like its some revolutionary update that's going to be like a new phone. I'm running it now and I don't see what all the hype is about.

Have you used a device with Froyo yet? I too was skeptical, but it turned the Moto Droid into a much better device. It runs smoother, has the 5 home screens they didn't give us on 2.1 with a browser and phone icons built into the launcher without the need for a third party launcher running in memory, and the apps run faster. Plus there is real flash now. Yes it IS a big deal :-) When I got my DInc I had a hard time using my Moto Droid as anything more than an alarm clock but now I actually use it again.

I thought that the ones that were shipping now were the SLCD ones?

Not unless HTC changed their minds. HTC released the name of 2 other phones they were making SLCD at this time. The feeling was this would allow them to catch up with the Incredible backlog.

That is what makes this report so strange!

Not as of a week or so ago. I e-mailed HTC corporate and specifically asked. They said the DInc has had no SLCD screens shipped and there were no plans to include SLCD on the DInc. They were thinking about it, but decided to use SLCD on other devices instead.

Sort of contradicts what Patches was saying about the SLCD?s but that?s what HTC told me.

I would like to add that the DI's is still described as having an OLED screen on VzW's Droid Does page. But if Patches is right about a delay (and wrong about the reason), then it could be a long wait.

LoL yeah I remember Patches too, wait but of course he came from CB too.Just like a bunch of us hahaha :)

I'm another former cb guy. Now running froyo on my incredible :D

Yeah there are a lot of former CB guys over here. I'm one of them too! I used to be additcted to Storm O/S Hybrids etc. Then it was more of a, "get this GD phone working the way it should thing", and now it's more of a ,"Lets see what I can make this phone do", thing. Love Android can't believe I stayed with BB as long as I did.....

Well people stay with BB because for the most part, they do what is advertised with no fuss, but the Storm (at least for the first 6 months or so) was the notable exception. I still use my Bold 9650 because it just works and I know for a fact that it is still gonna work at the end of the day when any Android phone I have had is a gamble.

Love both platforms but for different reasons. For me BB is messaging and Android is everything else... and iPhone is "why did I even buy this thing" lol .. loved it for the first 3 months then got bored of it, and now I am using again with iOS4 but fully expect to be bored again by this fall..

I bought a Storm on release date and I never had any issues. I believe people significantly overstate their problems. Also the phone did what it was designed to do, nothing more.

I was happy with the Storm but now am happy with Android. Android is a more full experience for a smart phone obviously, but the Storm did what it was to do.

Hate to say it but Patches was dead on when it came to Storm updates. This forum is turning into "The former Storm owners" forum. Glad I made the switch. Looking to some Froyo sweetness...

My first smart phone was the Storm 1. I never had any problems and loved it. I was torn between the Storm 2 and the Incredible. My wife had the Eris and it worked so well I chose the Incredible. No ill feelings for the Storm but the Incredible ROCKS!

I think a large part of the Storm's problem was that the build quality was hit or miss. I was happy with my first Storm (though I actually liked my Pearl more, but that could have been because it was my first smartphone :)) and it lasted a good long while. I eventually had to replace it when the screen deteriorated. It stopped acknowledging clicks or thought they were in different places. My second Storm had a terrible time with that from the beginning. Sent it back and my second replacement had the same issues. The third Storm ran hot and the battery life was awful, but I dealt with that until my Dinc came. I actually really liked the screen clicking on the Storm when it worked.

And to make my post on-topic, I really hope Froyo comes out on the 18th. Hubby traded in his old Tour for a Droid 2 the other day and has been rubbing Froyo in my face. ;-)

In keeping with this hijacked thread: I didn't buy a Storm. :) But I hope the non-rooted folks get their new dessert soon.

LOL.......anyways yeah they can only keep saying next week for so long before it's true!

Back to talking about the dinc instead of the darkness that the storm was (which i sold for 40 dollars) lol any way, if patches says the update is canx then i believe him. which is y i said to hell with it and updated the radio, and rooted to skyraider 2.5.2 rom. and i can say it is totally awesome. its a lil hairy at first not like us storm users are use to but its well worth it.
