Today is the 18th. WHERE'S MY FROYO!!!

i think so, thats what they said. i hope cause the update.zip file made my nav not work properly and then i loose everything on my home screens, just shows wallpaper when i hit the home button. verizon is sending a new Dinc. Should be here tomorrow or at least thats whats the guy and my reciept says. ill just do the OTA this time, no manual

Emailed HTC about update. They say its VZW sending it out OTA. Not them like @VZWSupport says. They also say it should be done by end of next week which is 9/11/10. So now those of us who are waiting at least know we have a 9 day wait ahead of us. They should just do like RIM and Apple and set it up to download at users leisure off a website. This just might be my last Android phone if this horse**** update schedule continues

So HTC says the end of next week, VZW says 2 weeks to a month, and someone with reliable sources says the end of this week. If Verizon reps haven't been known to know little to nothing about what's going on in their own company, I'd be tempted to take their word for it - however this is almost as bad as the rumors of it coming out for those who still haven't received it yet.

I sympathize with their frustration.

I agree. This roll-out has been ridiculous!
I don't understand why there just isn't an official link somewhere.
Though waiting for BB updates was painful, at least there was an official place to download it when it became available.

Someone really needs to rethink how this is done.

There is - it's the update.zip url - It's the same thing from the same place, you are just manually pulling it instead of waiting in line for the notification that it's your phones turn to pull the update.

I don't know how they could tell, but VZWSupport has stated that installing a leaked ROM voids your warranty. Again, I don't know that they can tell, and I don't know if the update.zip on this forum that is the official download is considered a leaked ROM. Just putting this info out there.

? {?

It's NOT a leaked ROM, it's the official update downloaded directly from Google. There is absolutely ZERO difference than waiting for the download invitation other than you have to do a couple steps manually

But update.zip if installed voids warranty. I might email HTC and actually verif

No it doesn't, please stop speeding this nonsense. You are just manually applying an OS patch. It's no different than say installing a Windows Service Pack from the CD (or a manual download) instead of through Windows Update. It's the exact same software.

They are probably going to tell you it does but if in the off chance you run into problems and actually tell them you did it manually then you deserve what you get. There is NO WAY for them to know unless you tell them.

Well, I still didn't receice my update on my DINC and now I'm reading that it will go on till next week? Is that a sure thing or what's going on with that? I'm started to get really frustrated and I don't want to use the update.zip file because of all the problems I'm reading about! What do you all think?

Verizon customer service told me that it is Google sending out the update and they do not know how Google determines which phones get the update on a particular day.

I wonder what the truth is, Google or Verizon or HTC?

The way I read the warranty, it actually would void it since it is technically an unauthorized alteration if your phone hasn't been sent the update yet. Just because the download link is available and others are receiving the update doesn't mean that you are authorized to update.

Not sure Verizon would ever have a way of knowing or would even care if they did, but I believe that technically it would void the warranty.

And @VZWSupport has been clear also that manual updating voids the warranty when they have been asked, but like everywhere else in Verizon if you ask 10 different people you would probably get 10 different answers...
