Starting a thread to share your trade ins and if they are successful or run into the dreaded FedEx stealing the phone scenario.

Last year, my trade in was stolen by FedEx, but luckily Samsung took care of it immediately without any issues.

As usual, take pictures and videos of your current phones IMEI, Serial number and video/photo of factory resetting and packaging. It can be argued if it's useful or not, but it doesn't harm to have them handy just in case.

Also, drop off at an actual FedEx store, get the drop offs receipt. And DO NOT use FedEx drop box.

You have 15 days from delivery date to ship your trade in, so take your time if needed

Well, my situation is kind of bizarre. Like all who ordered... received a survey from Samsung, my order was delivered on Friday and I never gotten around to filling out the form until today.

Well, after filling out the survey (gave them a rating of 10) ... less than 5 minutes I received an email that my trade in was accepted. For which I was delighted with... but I went to go and check the tracking number to realize it hasn't been delivered to its destination.

Plan to contact Samsung tomorrow to see whether there was some confusion on their end, but according to my order on Samsung Shopping app... the trade-in has been successfully processed.

Well, after filling out the survey (gave them a rating of 10) ... less than 5 minutes I received an email that my trade in was accepted. For which I was delighted with... but I went to go and check the tracking number to realize it hasn't been delivered to its destination.

Plan to contact Samsung tomorrow to see whether there was some confusion on their end, but according to my order on Samsung Shopping app... the trade-in has been successfully processed.

Wouldn’t worry about it, if your order says trade in is accepted and you got the email, don’t rock the boat. Now if you get another email saying your trade in is not received and warn if the charge back then I would contact them with what you have.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think the email was sent mistakenly… but the scheduled delivery for my trade-in package is tomorrow.

So, I’d wait… let them reach out.

I would. If they show they don’t have it on their end they will send you a email warning of the trade in not being received and the potential change back. If you get that email then contact them. That’s just my thoughts and what I would do.

Heard something interesting from the Samsung store in my city's Galleria shopping center last week. Decided to do some mall walking with my wife last weekend and we both stopped by the Samsung store to check out the displays for all the new devices coming out this month. A representative walked up to us and asked if we needed any help and in casual conversation I mentioned to her that it was too bad they don't take tradeins in the store like best buy does. The representative then responded that now they actually do take tradeins in the store and they match whatever tradein values are listed for devices on Samsung's website. This is something new and if they start doing this more often I may end up giving Samsung some business when the s25 ultra comes out.

Update… my package was delayed. Not sure what’s going on with FedEx, Irving to Lewisville is roughly 20 miles away.

Mine was supposed to be delivered today but delayed at the moment. At least it has reached Texas lol. Hopefully tomorrow it's delivered

That’s a normal delay for FedEx. Every one of my trades going to Texas get delayed right where yours is at. One of my trades went from there to New York and then they ground shipped back and it got delayed where yours is delayed now again. I think it took 12 days to finally get delivered. Samsung said the tracking number is live so there’s no worry about chargeback.

Wish Samsung would also change the trade in shipper to UPS.

I don’t know… I think there’s something strange going on between Samsung and FedEX, not sure what that is. But yours took 12 days to get delivered? That is terrible. And I used FedEX just two weeks ago with something I had to return.

It was to a local spot.. and it took a day (not too far from where Samsung return needs to go)! I believe there’s going to be some major problems this year with trade-ins… maybe Samsung will push more successful trade-ins with packages not being received (similar to my situation).
 
I will be working on recording packing up my old device today. I really dislike the fed ex location i have to go to. They really want people to use the drop box and I don't want to. I had the gal last year argue with me about it, she finally took it but I suspect she put it in the box the minute I left the store. I don't like that the items that go in the box don't get scanned until later in the day. It's too easy to just have one pkg mysteriously go missing! Question: I already took my old device back to factory... is there a way to get the imei off of it? Totally forgot to do that!

Check the Members app… under Support tabs “My Products.” You’ll probably see your old device there.

And as long as it gets scanned to that location… you shouldn’t worry if it goes missing (at least, I didn’t). Because you have a receipt that it was there.

As far as the IMEI...

If it was a Samsung device & you still have the email from your purchase that says, "Congrats on your new phone!", the IMEI is listed there.

Also a possibly, I have T-Mobile & my device IMEI is listed in the T-Mobile app. So maybe your carrier app.

As far as that FedEx location. They don't give you a receipt with the weight & tracking number when you drop it off?
I'd insist on a receipt.

Check the Members app… under Support tabs “My Products.” You’ll probably see your old device there.

And as long as it gets scanned to that location… you shouldn’t worry if it goes missing (at least, I didn’t). Because you have a receipt that it was there.
