Transfer via USBC cable doesn't work. I am connecting a PC laptop with a Galaxy S10 Ultra. I don't see the transfer option on the tablet.

I am trying to transfer data from a PC laptop to my Galaxy S10 Ultra via a USB C cable. I was doing this fine until recently, perhaps after an OS update. Now I get a message on the tablet when I plug the cable in that says check notifications and tap to enable USB transfer. I made transfers previously without and message. Are there any ideas to help? Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! On the tablet, when you connect via USB, what do you see when you swipe down the notification panel? Do you see a USB notification there? If so, tap it, and tell us what options show up.

I am connection a PC laptop to a Galaxy S10 to transfer data to the tablet. This has worked well in the past but now it will not work. When I plug the cable into the tablet I get the message to go to Notifications and tap USB to enable transfer. I found Notifications in Settings and it did not help.. I turned USB tethering to ON. Shouldn't I see a file transfer prompt to tap when I plug in the cable to the tablet. I have tried two cables. In the PC I can see to tablet but it shows the files as empty. Thanks.

In developer options on phone, there should be a setting about default behaviour when USB plugged in, for charge only or transfer, etc. If you play around with that, it might make a difference. Normally however, the notification area shows about USB connected and then if you tap that notication you get to set for charge only or transfer, for the USB that was just connected. If that notification isn't showing up for you, maybe you can still find it via notification history.

B. Diddy You nailed it!!!! I followed your instructions and found the USB file transfer. The key for me was the swipe down on the prompt. Others have suggestion going to Notifications but my knowledge did not allow me to know where it was. You said the right words. I hope some others can find this and benefit. Android made an OS update and I swear the new path was the result. I was determined to find the solution although there are some other alternative ways to transfer files. Many thanks!
